I bought these for my wife’s kombucha bottling efforts. Two thumbs up definitely and super easy to clean with the NB bottle cleaner!

Great Sturdy Bottles
These bottles are very nice. Very proud to put my brews in them. Actually they are probably too nice for my current level of brewing. Thick and heavy with a nice seal from the cap. Small amount of assembly to put the caps on. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Bottles
Everyone is impressed with the color, and I appreciate the utility of the caps. The beer is still conditioning, so we have yet to see the end result. The only downside is that I found it difficult to see the fill level through the bottle, so I may have spilled more wort than with brown or clear bottles.

Are these coated in blue, or is it actually blue glass?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would agree, these are actually blue glass. Not only have I reused them multiple times, I have also broken one in classic "me" clumsy style. It was blue through and through.
One critical item of information that is not mentioned, is how many bottles come in a box? It just shows 16 oz bottles, but no quantity.
A shopper on Oct 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They come 12 per case, and ship in a cardboard case with dividers.
Are the tops ceramic?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are plastic tops, however it is very dense plastic.
Are the bottles glass?
D U on Aug 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these are glass bottles.
I purchased these for mead making in the past. I just ordered the cider making kit. Can you use these for cider and would the crowns that came in the kit work on these bottles?
L O on Dec 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I purchased these for my husband to add to his collection. He has used these bottles over the last several years for his Hard Apple Cider making with the Swing Tops and loves them.
Can these be washed in the dishwasher? Do the rubber rings need replacing, and if so, how often and where do I get them? I would be using them for second fermentation of kombucha , which is a bit acidic. My husband brews beer and orders stuff from your site, that's how I know of it. Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: They could be sanitized in the dishwasher using the "heated dry" feature, but simply washing them in the dishwasher will not be enough to clean the insides of these, or any, bottles. You will need to use a bottle brush, or a bottle washer/rinser of some kind to get the inside of the bottles clean. The rubber gaskets on swing-top bottles do need to be replaced every once in a while, we do sell them. They are said to be good for 4-6 uses, before replacement.
What are the advantages to bottling homebrew in cobalt glass?
A N on May 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The amount of light that the beer is exposed to actually affects the flavor of your beer. Bottles left in light too long can make the beer inside taste "skunky", ultimately leaving you with a less desireable beer. Colored bottles do a better job of blocking out more wavelengths of light than clear bottles. Depending on how long and where you store your beer (not to mention how quickly it gets consumed) are all factors to take into consideration. I like these bottles because not only do they look pretty cool, but its way easier using the swing top caps than manually capping a whole batch of home brew.
