Great Seal
When using glass carboys, I have had trouble keeping a typical bung in place when fermenting wine. The pressure of the CO2 causes the bung to slip out , losing the seal. These caps stay in place.

I love these little guys. They're a must have and I can't believe I didn't find out about them sooner.

Fits Mostly Well
It fits and seals on the neck of a standard carboy pretty well and doesn't want to pop out like a rubber stopper. I did have to trim the material back on the center port a little in order to fit in my airlock and racking cane. I wish it was made of something like silicone instead of vinyl, but it's worth the small cost for convenience.

Arrived and works as expected...
Way better than using a bung!

Great Product
Can't say enough good things about these Carboy Caps. It's true that the interior on some of these can be rough, but I always get a good seal when used with hose clamps.

Good, but QC issue
Good concept, and they are particularly handy for holding a racking cane in place while transferring beer, but two of the three I received had a rough interior surface where it mates with the carboy, and so would not form a good seal. I was wondering why my airlocks weren't bubbling. Check them before using.

Use It
Love it. I was trying to siphon out of the carboy without one of these and I was having a hard time. This removes all the problems and the wort transfers in seconds.

Very good, but seal is not perfect
I really like the carboy caps to be used with a thermo-well as mentioned also by Scott. Everything works great except the seal is not always perfect in the two 6 gallon bubblers or the 3 gallon Better Bottle I have. This makes the CO2 escape and the bubbling rate through the blow off tube just useless to control fermentation rate. Not a big deal, but annoying not knowing whether fermentation rate except by looking at the krausen.

can I push co2 in through this cap to push beer out through a wand?
B K on Jan 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes you could do that. I would suggest using a hose/worm clamp to hold the bung securely to the carboy- sometimes these don't have the best seal...
Can I buy replacement grommets and o-rings? The unit came with a tiny little rubber grommet and o-ring that allowed the 12" probe to fit airtight inside of the thicker port on the standard carboy cap. I use the 12" probe in that port to monitor wort temp during primary and have a blow off tube hooked-up to the other port on the carboy cap. Only problem is I seem to have lost the rubber grommet/o-ring!

BEST ANSWER: We do sell a replacement 12" probe, but none of the smaller components that make it up.
If I want to use this to attach a blowoff tube, what size tubing can I use?
N A on Aug 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You could put a piece of 5/16" tubing into the smaller inlet, or you could attach a piece of 3/8" tubing to the center stem of a 3-piece airlock, and place it in the larger inlet, the one that is sized to hold an airlock securely. - Mike W, Northern Brewer
Will these fit your one-gallon glass jugs?
M A on Jul 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, but these will fit onto the 3, 5, 6 and 6.5 gallon glass carboys we currently sell. There is no similar "cap" for the one-gallon jugs. A #6 stopper, or a 38mm Screw-cap will fit on the jug. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
Will this cap work on my standard 5 gallon plastic carboy?
J O on May 19, 2016

Thank you for your question. These caps fit on The Bubbler and the Better Bottle along with the standard glass carboys.

Will this carboy cap fit the 6 gallon plastic bubbler carboy?
J O on Dec 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hello John,

Thank you for choosing Northern Brewer! That carboy cap will not fit on a Big Mouth Bubbler. I hope that this helps!
