- The deck is stacked with a whole lotta hops. Four of a kind, in fact – Magnum, Chinook, Centennial and Citra. And get ready for the bluff, because this session brew drinks lighter than it appears. You won’t find roasted coffee or bittersweet chocolate here, just smooth malty caramel with a touch of toast, and an intense hop presence with pine, citrus and fruity notes that stand no chance of getting lost in the shuffle. Play your cards right? There’s no way to play them wrong with this kit. Any way you brew it, you’ll be coming up aces.

8 months agoLove this kit!Third time brewing this all grain kit and we absolutely LOVE it! Kit has everything you need for a simple straight forward brew day. I use a secondary fermenter and clarity has always been spot on. Flavor is outstanding with great balance between almost a light black lager start with a hoppy IPA finish. The only downfall is my wife loves it so much we never have the keg for long after it's tapped! NB knocked it out of the park with this one, give it a try for sure!July 29, 2017Purchased
10 months agoIt's been well received by guestsNot a hop bomb but a nice balance of subtle hop flavor and roasted notes. People have all enjoyed it since it doesn't drink like the black color makes you think. Will probably make again, but next time will mash a bit warmer to add a bit of body and might increase the late hop editions.July 8, 2017Purchased
10 months agoMy New Fav brew!Just tapped this phenomenal brew on Sunday. All I can say is wow!! Excellent balance of hops and malts. Have already ordered another kit, this will become a regular in my keezer!!March 17, 2017Active fermentation Use Blow offBrewed this yesterday. Holy crap is the fermentation active!! Krausen climbing out of the blowoff tube (I mash around 148-150). Fun brew day with all the hop additions. The recipe calls for .5 oz of Magnum hops, just put the whole 1 oz bag they provide in as I didn't want to throw it awayBoil of the Ace of Spades Black IPAFebruary 19, 2017Purchased
1 year agoBest Black IPA I have ever brewed and best Black IPA I have ever had. This is the second Black IPA that I have brewed. First was different Black IPA recipe and was okay but this is the best I have ever had. It is hoppy on the nose, hoppy on the taste and the best Black IPA I have ever drank. It will always be on my beer menu at my home pub. Cheers - 17.May 28, 2016
- Browse 3 questions Browse 3 questions and 9 answersI have thus recipe in the primary right now and was curious on what FG i should expect. ThanksBEST ANSWER: I messed up on my batch with too high mash temp. However, software said it should finish out at 1.009.how much water do you need?BEST ANSWER: The instructions included in the kit (or you can look at them on the NB website) will give you the initial amount of water to heat and mix with your grains in the mash tun - typically specified in quarts per lbs of grain. (lbs of grain for this recipe will also be on your instructions and probably the grain bag.) After you do your initial extraction of wort you'll need almost the same amount of water (or more) for the sparge. Just keep going until you have extracted about 6 - 6.5 gallons of wort. You'll lose a gallon or so in the boil.Ok guys your killing me here, I'm just starting brewing and I keep seeing these brews that say "Additional Equipment Needed". What extra do I need for this? I have the deluxe kit with glass carboy's. Thanks.BEST ANSWER: Hi there, you need all grain equipment for this kit. You will want to look for the extract version. Cheers!
