Product Details

Australian Summer is a unique seedless aroma hop developed and grown in Australia. Summer provides distinctive light apricot and melon fruit notes nicely balanced by a background hop character which can be used to great effect in many beer styles.

It is also often called "Summer Saaz," as it bears aroma characteristics in line with Saaz-types. Distinctive Southern Hemisphere earth/spice undercurrent, low cohumulone, good oil content, and low alpha-acids mean it is a very versatile aroma hop.

A limit of 8 oz per order exists due to extremely limited availability.

Great Hop
Made my new all time favorite recipe with this hop. With this hop you have some melon flavors come though along with some citrusy notes. Perfect for my summer guzzler.

They smell awesome.
Title says it all. Using the full ounce to make 1 gallon of a SMaSH hoppy pale (around 35-40 IBU, so think Firestone Walker's Pale 31) with US 2-row malt so I can really get the sense of what these taste/smell like. The pellets themselves smell great and I'm dry hopping today; I've got high hopes for this brew.

smells and taste like regular saaz.
Not getting much peach flavor. Not bad though. I like mild floral hops similar to hallertauer.

Just went in to secondary.Used in a wheat beer 27% white wheat 73% breiss 2row. Not much melon coming through. More lemon/citrus. Dry hopped with another oz. We'll see in a few weeks.

Just purchased the 5 gal starter home brew kit ($99.99 value). I would like to add a hop character to the Amber ale since I am not a fan of ambers but the kit includes that as the only choice. Would anyone recommend adding hop pellets to your first brew experience? Would this hop be a great addition and would you just pour all hops in the book or is it something that is done after when fermenting?

BEST ANSWER: You could add some hops to this very easily, add another ounce or two of Willamette or Kent Goldings to the brew. I'd add them later in the boil, maybe do 1 oz with 15 minutes to go, and one with 2 minutes to go. This would increase the hop flavor and aroma quite a bit, and make a far hoppier beer. If you'd like more bittering, add another 1/2 oz to the boil with 45 minutes left. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
