Product Details
Our most popular grain mill! A high quality, precision-machined mill that is easy to set up and use. A consistent, precise crush is vital for making the best beer possible, and The Barley Crusher delivers. This mill comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer and some of the best features on the market:
  • Solid base fits easily on a standard 6.5 gallon fermenting bucket.
  • Adjustable rollers with a .015 to .070 range.
  • Materials that will last a lifetime: 1018 Cold Rolled Steel for the rollers, 6061 Aluminum for the mill body and hopper, tool steel for the axles with oil-impregnated bronze bushings.
  • 5-inch rollers have a 12 TPI knurl that pulls grain through while leaving the hull intact to form an excellent filter bed for sparging.
  • Large hopper holds approximately 15 pounds of grain.
  • Includes a hand-crank but no adapters are needed to use a 3/8 drill motor; using a 3/8 drill motor at 500 RPM gives a throughput of 6 pounds a minute.

    Poor quality
Attached the handle and I couldn't turn it cause it hit the wooden base and the ribs on the pail beneath it. No graduation marks on the gap adjustment knobs. I question that there are bearings or bushings on the roller shafts. Not impressed for the cost.

    OK, but not the best
I got one of these about 5 years ago when I went to all grain brewing. It worked fine for crushing, but the hopper is very flimsy and pulls off the crusher very easily. It requires tools in a tight area that people with big hands will find hard to get at.The mill adjustment also requires a screwdriver and does not adjust to very narrow gaps for smaller grains. For some reason, mine gets "stuck" now and then and won't process. The non-driven roller just sits there, even though there is no binding.I just bought a Monster Mill 2 and like it much better. For a little more money you get a much more robust product that has a hopper that is bolted on, adjustments that requires no tools, and can bring the gap down to paper thin. I've been very impressed with it.

I was very happy with how easy it was to assemble, use, and clean.

    works great
I like to have some beer kits available for that rainy day. I finally decided just to go for it and purchase a grain mill. I now purchase unmilled grains. I place it over a bucket and use my power drill while waiting for the mash water to heat up. And who doesn't like the smell of fresh grains? The large hopper size was worth the extra money.

Excellent Crush, Well Made, Performs as Described
Grain mill was received quickly in excellent condition, the pre-set crush has consistently yielded higher extract than anticipated by the software for the grain. Quality product that is well made and just as described. Fits easily and securely atop a 5gallon bucket. I included the larger hopper which I would recommend again. I have used a drill for crushing and did not purchase the handle. I crush with a 12 volt cordless drill as slowly as the drill will grind without stopping. The mill will power through the grain if you like but I prefer to run it slowly anticipating a better crush.

    fantastic piece of equipment
I was getting tired of putting up with crushed grain from the internet that is not crushed, or LHBS that turn your grain into powder. I have this dialed in now, and get the perfect crush every time. my effciency is now a constant 80-85%, and my beers clear beautifully.

    Works great so far
I got this for Christmas and haved used it for about 4 brews. I started with hand milling then just used my old drill to run it. Works great. Anyone that says it doesnt work right or wasnt put together correctly probably got the unlucky one. I love having this because now I can order large amounts of grain in advanced.

    Good crush every time
I have been using this mill for two years, it has worked just as good as the day I received it! It crushes the hulls just enough to extract the sugars, I would recommend it to any homebrewer, CHEERS!

    Works great
Very easy to adjust roller spacing using a feeler gauge. I easily hand cranked a few lbs for nostalgia, but then switched to the drill. Drill fit on nicely and ground 10lbs in no time. Easy to clean, the base fits nicely over a bucket. Also, the whole thing can be removed from the base and attached to a permanent stand if required. Nice craftsmanship and a good conversations piece for the neighbors.

    How is that work? Manually?

BEST ANSWER: It's a bit difficult, you almost need two people if you mill over a pail. After my first use I bolted to a table I built with a cut-out in it where the grain falls thru into my pail. Now it works great.
I've got a small vineyard (50 vines) and want to make wine this year. Will this barley crusher crush grapes? Would love to have one tool that could do both jobs!
