Our most popular grain mill! A high quality, precision-machined mill that is easy to set up and use. A consistent, precise crush is vital for making the best beer possible, and The Barley Crusher delivers. This mill comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer and some of the best features on the market:
  • Solid base fits easily on a standard 6.5 gallon fermenting bucket.
  • Adjustable rollers with a .015 to .070 range.
  • Materials that will last a lifetime: 1018 Cold Rolled Steel for the rollers, 6061 Aluminum for the mill body and hopper, tool steel for the axles with oil-impregnated bronze bushings.
  • 5-inch rollers have a 12 TPI knurl that pulls grain through while leaving the hull intact to form an excellent filter bed for sparging.
  • Large hopper holds approximately 15 pounds of grain.
  • Includes a hand-crank but no adapters are needed to use a 3/8 drill motor; using a 3/8 drill motor at 500 RPM gives a throughput of 6 pounds a minute.

    Awesome Product
After a whole lot of research and headache, I decided to take the plunge any buy a Barley Crusher with the larger hopper, as I'm known to make some high-gravity brews. From day 1, this guy has never let me down. Even when my power drill failed during a morning's overly-ambitious crush, we just used the supplied hand-crank and double-crushed. There was a lot of sweating, swearing, and laughing, but the beer got made.

Excellent Crush, Well Made, Performs as Described
Grain mill was received quickly in excellent condition, the pre-set crush has consistently yielded higher extract than anticipated by the software for the grain. Quality product that is well made and just as described. Fits easily and securely atop a 5gallon bucket. I included the larger hopper which I would recommend again. I have used a drill for crushing and did not purchase the handle. I crush with a 12 volt cordless drill as slowly as the drill will grind without stopping. The mill will power through the grain if you like but I prefer to run it slowly anticipating a better crush.

    Good crush every time
I have been using this mill for two years, it has worked just as good as the day I received it! It crushes the hulls just enough to extract the sugars, I would recommend it to any homebrewer, CHEERS!

    Good Stuff
I bought mine severl months ago and I have done 6 batches or so and I am impressed. Great crush out of the box, I use a drill everytime and it is done in a couple of minutes. I called Barley Crusher with a question and I they answered the phone and helped me out, good customer service.

    Works great so far
I got this for Christmas and haved used it for about 4 brews. I started with hand milling then just used my old drill to run it. Works great. Anyone that says it doesnt work right or wasnt put together correctly probably got the unlucky one. I love having this because now I can order large amounts of grain in advanced.

    works great
I like to have some beer kits available for that rainy day. I finally decided just to go for it and purchase a grain mill. I now purchase unmilled grains. I place it over a bucket and use my power drill while waiting for the mash water to heat up. And who doesn't like the smell of fresh grains? The large hopper size was worth the extra money.

    fantastic piece of equipment
I was getting tired of putting up with crushed grain from the internet that is not crushed, or LHBS that turn your grain into powder. I have this dialed in now, and get the perfect crush every time. my effciency is now a constant 80-85%, and my beers clear beautifully.

Spring for the extra hopper capacity
The crush is good, but its the hopper capacity that makes this mill sweet. Hook up a good drill, dump in your grains and go to town. Done.

Works With or Without a Drill
The drill attachment works great, but if you forget to charge your battery, you can quickly attach the hand crank and mill your grains manually.I debated going with the smaller hopper, but I'm glad I spent the extra dough. The extra capacity saves a little messing around. This mill itself works great. It's well designed, and has rubber "feet" that makes it fit a 5 gallon bucket snuggly. My only complaint is that it doesn't have some sort of clamp to hold it on the bucket. If you crank it manually, it's a fair amount of work to go through 20+ lbs of grain when the thing is shaking all over the place. You also can't leave your drill attached unless the hopper is full or the mill will topple off the bucket.

    How is that work? Manually?

BEST ANSWER: It's a bit difficult, you almost need two people if you mill over a pail. After my first use I bolted to a table I built with a cut-out in it where the grain falls thru into my pail. Now it works great.
I've got a small vineyard (50 vines) and want to make wine this year. Will this barley crusher crush grapes? Would love to have one tool that could do both jobs!
