The first-ever universal lid for Big Mouth Bubbler® fermentors. Engineered by brewers to suit any fermentor in the Big Mouth Bubbler® family, from EVO 2 and Plastic to first-generation glass and even the Little Big Mouth Bubbler®.

The Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid is just like a traditional carboy bung, only bigger! Just as easy to sanitize and set in place too. Ribbed silicone rings ensure a positive seal to keep out pests, while the non-threaded design allows the lid to move preventing an out-of-control fermentation from dangerously pressurizing your fermentor.

Dual Port design allows for the ability to continuously monitor temperature with a thermowell/temperature probe why still having an airlock in place to release CO2.

Available in single- and dual-port configurations. Dual-port gives you the ability to constantly monitor temperature through one port while allowing CO2 to escape through the second port.

Better yet, the port is perfectly sized for all your standard homebrew tools, from a universal carboy bung and standard blowoff hose to a testing thief and auto-siphon.

Easy to clean, just pop it in the top rack of your dishwasher and run it through a standard cycle. You can also use your standard homebrew cleaners and sanitizers.

The universal lids all use a:
  • Small universal stopper
  • Standard 6.5 rubber stopper.

    What can I say, it's a lid
The lid works great for what I want to do. One hole for a bubbler and the other for a temperature probe. The lid did "ride up" on the first use, so I taped it down with painters tape.

    So glad they make these
I am thrilled that I can have all my heating and thermometer stuff set up and not compromising getting other bacteria into the batch. One of the most exciting new purchases made for our brewing process.

Love the BMB but not the lids.
Big fan of the BMB. I have 8 of them. I donâ??t like the new lids. The donâ??t stay on. I was told let them dry but Iâ??m more of the sanitize immediately before use and they are not dry. Please provide the screw lids as I never had a problem. Iâ??m using Saran Wrap to hold the lids down.

Lid pops out, do not buy!!!
I purchased this replacement lid that has two ports. The new lid popped out during primary fermentation and exposed the entire batch to open air. Not cool!!!! They spin this as a feature to avoid bursting from overpressure but that is a poor attempt to hide a fundamental flaw in their design. The big mouth bubbler is the right tool for the job with a proper lid, but they don’t sell a proper lid at the moment that I am aware of. Don’t buy it until they do!

    Poor design
To say this has a secure seal would be inaccurate. Why change from a screw top to a push top?? Fire the person responsible for the design and make them drink weak noncraft beer. Each time I pushed down it bubbled. I taped it securely to no avail. Horrible design. If you are in the market for a much-needed large mouth fermentor then look for anything more secure. Please do not purchase this item. A large mouth opening is important but it needs to be secure and, sadly, this one is not.

    Terrible Lid
Does not work. At all. Have to duct tape the lids down.. I can't believe Big Mouth could make an even worse lid after their first terrible lid design. DO NOT BUY

    Useful and Easy
Needed a dual port to add a thermowell along side of my blow off. This work well, same as the single port universal lid. Be sure to push the lid on firmly to get a good seal though!

Will this work with the Big Mouth Glass Bubbler?
    B R on Jan 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Read the reviews and you get a different story from the answers here. I have an original big mouth glass bubbler(6.5 gallon) and this lid is completely useless. It immediately pops off with any pressure or slight moisture, and even when I can get it to stay I have zero confidence that it will still be on when I wake up in the morning.

I tried flipping the silicone ring and contacting customer support, and ultimately got this:
"Sadly the opening on the V1 you have may not be willing to accept the lid due to its width".
And got my order refunded. Luckily I still had my original BMB lid and screwed that on, albeit without a dual port :(

I guess if you're okay with strapping it down, or weighting it somehow it technically can work, but what's the point of buying a lid when you need to come up with your own way to hold it on?
will the hole/s fit a blow off hose?
    A shopper on May 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 1" ID blow off hose should fit the openings, without a stopper. The piece of 1" hose I received was a little small in diameter, so it wouldn't make a seal with the lid. I heated about 3" of the end of the hose with a heat gun (hot water would also work) and stretched it over a wooden dowel. When it cooled it held the new shape. It seals well when stuffed into the lid hole.
Just want to make sure I know before I buy one... How wide are the ports? Do stoppers plug into the ports, or do I insert the airlock / temp probe directly into the lid?
    P E on Jul 18, 2016
    BEST ANSWER: Pete,

Thank you for your question. You will want either the 6.5 rubber stoppers or the small universal stoppers for the holes in this lid.

    Cheers!
Would this also work with the Little BMB ?
    John A on Apr 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these lids will also work with the Little Big Mouth Bubblers.
I'm looking for something to hold down my ferments, ie saurkraut, while letting the brine stay above the kraut and allow gas to escape through an air lock. Would this be suitable?
    M S on Jun 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it would not. You want some type of weight or follower that fits tightly to keep the cabbage below the liquid level, usually a plate. Cheers!
