We’ve eschewed divinity in favor of the occult to bring you a taste of Black Magic. A diabolical Dark Mild born of a deceptively simple recipe that spawns a murky potion possessing a decidedly complex flavor. Bread and biscuits, toast and toffee, chicory and caramel, all enveloped in a cloak of rich maltiness that’s balanced by a mellow bitterness with subtle floral spiciness.

Product Details
Before the dawn of science and the discovery of yeast, the act of fermentation was a mystical process, the product of seemingly supernatural forces. Whether by spirits of nature, or a gift from the gods, this magical transformation has captivated the human consciousness since time immemorial. Its spell cast, Black Magic will take hold of your senses and turn you away from the light (beer), and pull you to the darker side of homebrewing.

More like Amber Magic
This produced a very good toasty, slightly hoppy mild. The description of it being dark is a bit misleading as it looks more like an amber ale.

Much better than expected.
I'll admit it, I bought this beer kit because of the free Big Mouth Bubbler promotion several months ago. Since brewing up a batch, it was in a primary fermenter for a month and a half, followed by a secondary (which ya', isn't necessary, but I like to fully ferment, and clarify my beers) for another couple months (it doesn't need that long, I got busy, threw my back out, went on a trip, and remembered that this needed to be bottled), and was finally bottled, two weeks ago. It's had enough time to carb up, so, this morning, I put one in the mini-fridge to chill it down. I just poured, enjoyed, and after having finished it, can honestly say, that this is a damn fine brown ale. I like Ellie's, by Avery Brewery, and I like this just as much, possibly a bit better actually, which after all, is the precise reason that we brew at home, in the first place, enjoy!

Not Half Bad
This was fun to make. First time on my own. I had a few challenges, but made it through. Had to email some questions and got quick responses. In the end the beer was good.

Tasty and worth the time
Tasty biscuit, smooth and mellow. Easy drinker and the low abv makes it a delicious session beer. I'd recommend backing down the corn sugar at bottling, my carbonation came out a little higher than I'd want.

Smooth and highly drinkable
Who said low AVB has to be boring? This is delicious and everyone who has tried it likes it. If you want a flavorful session beer, this is it.

Pretty tasty
Brewed for 6 weeks; 2 weeks primary, 3 weeks in secondary while on vacation, then dry hopped for 1 more week. Been in the keg I think 3 weeks now. The bitterness has worn off quite a bit, leaving a very mellow brew. Little bit of chocolate comes through and then a bit of spice/fruit I'm assuming from the dry hopping. Was expecting a bit more malt and chocolate flavor given the dark color, but overall very good. Would brew again.

Homerun Kit for a New Brewer
We brewed a double batch of Black Magic for our fifth brew, and this one is a home run. Tonight we accidentally opened a bottle of this one, which we brewed on November 3 and bottled on November 16 at 5.7 ABV. We did a one stage brew, no secondary. After only 8 days in the bottle, wow! Nice dark color, frothy, thick, long lasting head. Mild aroma that allows the bitter hoppiness to surprise you. A really nice taste in only 21 days.

Great Dark Mild!
Usually brew the SS Minnow dry dock mild and decided to try this. It is great. Good flavor....might even like it better. Will be in one of the 5 corney kegs from now on for sure. If you like a dark mild this one is highly recommended. Low AVB but tons of flavor. with little bite to it. Great brew!
