12 months agoAugust 30, 2016DeliciousRidiculously smooth, a robust well balanced flavor, yet light enough that it is not too heavy to drink more than 1. Would definitely brew again.August 8, 2016great brewi brewed this a good while ago and what a great beer. I squeezed the grain bag hard at the end and this created and unbelievable coffee flavor everyone loves! It was a total mistake that had a great outcome. I'm getting ready to order again and glad i kept good notes so I can repeat the flavor. I also bottled with 9 tablespoons of clover honey. I think the flavor could be OK..but the mouth feel and body would probably be a little too light. Honey already thins out the body of the beer slightly and apples would do the same. You would need to add a lot of apple to get a significant flavor contribution and that much apple would thin out the beer significantly..so I would not recommend it.I added the hiney at the same time as the malt. How will that effect the outcome?BEST ANSWER: You will have less honey taste. For more honey taste carbonate with honey. Details of amounts on this website or in John Palmer's book on brewing.What is the ibu rating of this beer?BEST ANSWER: Calculated at 43.6 for my 4 gallon boil.Can you double the amount of honey you put in. And if so should I do anything differentBEST ANSWER: I would not add more than 1 extra pound to avoid changing the character too much. It tastes better with one pound of honey but if you want to have the extra alcohol that would be an OK way to accomplish it but that can have many effects on the final beer and I would not recommend it.
