- Blonde ale: pale, refreshing, balanced. Already a crowd-pleaser, but add in apricot and you’ve got one of Dry Dock Brewing Co.’s most popular beers. A very light, slightly sweet malt body is the foundation, accompanied by minimal hopping and classic American yeast. The secret here is using real apricot puree, which contributes fresh apricot flavor, additional body and a bit of fruity tartness. Some apricot extract added at bottling supports the flavor and extends it. The perfect end to a summer evening, or an excellent pair for a light almond pastry. Dry Dock Brewing Company of Aurora CO is one of the hottest up and coming breweries in the US. In the 6 years that it has been open, it has racked up more than a dozen World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival medals, including Small Brewing Company of the Year. But to try one of their amazing brews you’d have to live in the tiny section of Colorado they cater to. Good thing for the rest of us Dry Dock has worked closely with Northern Brewer to develop these Pro-Series beer kits. We’ve sourced the same ingredients and kept all the recipe particulars the same, just scaled down to your homebrewery. Enjoy!

5 months agoHighly RecommendBrewed this for my wife, who had discovered and loved Great South Bay's Blonde Ambition. Brewed per the recipe, with no changes. She likes this substantially better than the Blonde Ambition. Served from a keg, I have many people make this there first choice from two different kegs and about 20 different bottles to choose from. Will definitely brew this again.December 3, 2015January 28, 2016Bought a second time. This was a fan favorite and one I try to keep on hand.June 5, 2016Best Beer EverSo pleased this kit is an option. I lived a few miles from Dry Dock in Aurora, CO. Love the folks there and LOVE this beer. Not a better summer beer than Apricot Blonde.May 8, 2017Artificial tasteMade it by the instructions, using all the extract. It's OK, but I think the extract is overpowering and leaves an artificial aftertaste. Others that have tried it and say it's good.
I wont make again but I would suggest not using the extract.March 25, 2017Purchased

- Browse 4 questions Browse 4 questions and 14 answersIs the apricot flavor strong? I'm thinking of cutting back on the puree and eliminating the extract. I would like it to be kinda subtle like Magic Hat #9.BEST ANSWER: I didnt think it was strong at all. Noticeable. If someone tells you this is Apricot Blonde you would identify it but if they didn't you would be thinking "this is good, hmm, what is that?" so it just enhances it. Personally it was ok for me, but one of my friends wives raved. Is there a good way to add the pure to your fermenter to keep all the trub out (sanitized muslin bag etc)? Using a conical would almost certainly be out of the question.tBEST ANSWER: I brewed this a few years ago and it was delicious. I used a bucket and glass secondary. The apricot is a purée so I don't know that a muslin bag would hold much, if any, inside. I have a conical now and was going to brew this again for the summer...but may hold off until a few other people chime in...sorry this wasn't much help, but I'm glad you asked the question!Instead of adding the .75oz of cascade hops for 60 minutes, I added the whole ounce of hops for 60 minutes. Will this drastically affect this brew?BEST ANSWER: Howdy,
That will not drastically affect the brew, you might notice a slight increase in bitterness, but its fairly unlikely. I hope that this helps, let me know if you have any further questions! How much is the abv increased by adding the apricot puree?
