Product details

Bursting with pear flavor from the very first sip and deliciously easy to drink, Pear cider is a perfect companion for any day or evening event. Festive and light, the notes of ripe pear are complemented by a soft body and crisp finish.

A refreshing, spritzy alternative to beer--mouthwatering cider with a boozy twist is naturally gluten-free and lacks the bitterness of ale.

Striking a balance between scrumptiously sweet and tartly dry, hard cider carries an easy-drinking 5-7% alcohol content.

Served lightly carbonated, cider pairs exceptionally well with food. Fresh cheese, leafy greens, seafood morsels and anything slow-cooked, smoked or barbecued will perfectly complement the boozy apple nectar of fall.

Cider House Select Pear Cider is a crisp beverage enjoyed by beer and wine lovers alike.

This 6 gallon recipe kit is deliciously packed full of flavor, with juice made from apples ripe for the picking.

Note: All Cider House Select Kits require the addition of 2 pounds of corn sugar to reach their full alcohol potential

Excellent Cider

1st time to make the Pear Cider. A pear fwd. flavor, no need to add any other puree or flavor. My 12oz raspberry puree was lost with the pear! It's very popular!

Delicious Cider

This is a delicious cider, though the pear flavor is a little bit artificial. The pear flavor is not super pronounced though, so it’s fine. With half the sweetener packet, it came out well balanced - not too sweet, not too dry. It was super easy to brew and ready to drink way sooner than a typical beer. Also, it took a lot more bottles than I expected. I agree with other reviews that for the price it should include the corn sugar that is required. It would be nice to access the instruction sheet and kit components without opening the concentrate pouch, but I knew that I had to be ready to brew when I cut the bag open.

Delicious!

One of my wife's faves! Good to me too! Would loved if kit included the 2lbs of corn sugar needed though! Also, note: this is a 6gallon recipe, not 5. Overall, this recipe isn't only sweet & bubbly & refreshing but it's also the quickest, easiest recipe kit I've done yet! The wait time for fermentation to be complete was super quick! P.S. stay away from the suggested sugar drops! Just use your normal 5oz. bag of priming sugar, it'll work just fine. Also, the drops are far from perfect proportion if bottling. Final ABV was 4.7% I will buy again!

Delicious, but pricey for what it is.

This kit is super easy to make (about a tenth the time of making the same quantify of beer) and comes out delicious when fermenting with my Grainfather fermenter and a glycol chiller. I prefer a dry cider, which is possible by simply excluding the sweetener pack. I kegged this cider about two weeks after brewing and when first kegged, it had a noticeable yeast aroma on the nose - but the taste was fantastic. Over time the yeast aroma has mellowed, but it's still there (about a month after brew date).

My only minor "complaints": (1) the kit doesn't include the 2 pounds of corn sugar required by the recipe. For the price of this kit, it should since there's no way to make it without the corn sugar. (2) The kit is a bit overpriced for what it is. Basically all you get is apple juice concentrate, a yeast packet, a pear juice concentrate packet, and a sweetener packet. Separately the ingredients can't be much more than 1/3rd the cost of this kit. (3) The kit cannot be opened before "brew" day. I made the mistake of opening my kit before I was ready to brew it making the assumption that doing so is ok. Of course, if you take the time to study the packaging it does warn you not to open the kit before you plan to make it - but why not just design the packaging so there is an inner sealed compartment with the apple juice concentrate so the kit can be opened any time? I personally like to review the instructions and the kit components ahead of brewing to help me prepare. No big deal in this case - I just ended up making the kit the same day anyway.
