Everything looks good but the kit does not come with any assembly or "how to" instructions. Obviously you can get somebody to help you or look up stuff on YouTube but it is the first time I have bought something that does not come with any sort of support,
I sent an e-mail to customer support and they sent me a 5 year old YouTube video that uses plastic coolers.
This system lacks a thermometer valve for the Hot Liquor Tank. If I’d realized this, I wouldn't have purchased it, as you must heat your strike water in a regular kettle and transfer it, which is not practical for a correct tiered system.
You need to cut some of the smaller tubing included to make a hose for the false bottom. They should include a small pre-cut hose for this purpose and don’t mention this in the YouTube video. They don’t include instructions or any mention to the video in the packaging, so if you’re a beginner you’ll search the Internet in desperation.
The transfer lines get minor leaks because they appear to need teflon tape, which even correctly applied with what’s provided comes off after each use. The YouTube video don’t mention how to address this and it seems they’ll leak without taping, so it’s anyones guess how to stop it.
The valve I used for my HLT has a very, very slow leak and it’s been installed properly. I discovered this before attaching the transfer line before sparging. Since the kettle itself doesn’t leak overnight, it’s somewhere in the valve when it’s turned on and this has frustrated me.
Overall, you need to decide if you want to make an extra water transfer and use a floating thermometer in a brand-new HLT, which has really frustrated me. I could deal with a leaky valve and not including a small third piece of tubing but not temperature valves not practical.
Don't buy this if you’re a beginner and don’t have a transfer pump, get back pain, or, get easily frustrated. Otherwise, it’s a great setup.
Calibrate the thermometer valve in the mash tun before installing it with a screwdriver. Mine was 10 degrees off.
They should include a transfer pump or a thermometer valve for the HLT. Whoever designed this was foolish and had never visited a brewery before. They can easily fix this and make this into a superior system.
These kettles are very heavy duty. Valves and fittings work well and no leaks.
The product was very sturdy and worked as expected for my mash. The only thing was I never received the small tubing for the false bottom to connect to nozzle... so I had to find my own and cut to size which worked.
works awesome, didn’t have any issues. Highly recommend it.
