Due to the high starting gravity of this kit, we recommend pitching multiple packs of yeast or preparing a yeast starter for best results.

Taste was amazing, but the priming sugar drops that came with it did not carbonate at all. Can't tell if the recommended brew time was too long and the yeast was no longer active.
This is a great kit and a great recipe. Use good bourbon, and definitely be sure to give it enough time to age (I kegged it and let it sit on oak chips for months). It was good before the aging, but it's better after.
Bottled....and waiting for carbonation. Tasted fantastic prior to bottling. Used Maker's a it has been a solid, consistent choice for me in the past when making a bourbon oak RIS.
Wanted to try a different stout. Extremely surprised by notes of coffee, Carmel, chocolate, and smoke. Very complex, yet want to keep in mouth. Smooth mouth feel considering I got 10.2 ABV at bottling. A must try for people who are not beginners, and want a great challenge with a great reward. Will do this one again.
I love the bourbon barrel stouts out on the market. Dragon Milk is available all year. This clone is every bit as good. My wife couldn’t believe it was a batch we brewed. This was our very first attempt at brewing. Thankfully the ingredients were all provided and the instruction were clear and simple to follow. Can’t wait to start brewing the next batch, don’t want to run out before the next round is ready.
