This recipe came out great. I would prefer to work with real grapefruit or a grapefruit extract. However, this is a great place to start and this beer tastes like a genuine grapefruit IPA.
Been brewing only a few years with regularity, but I can say, I like this beer! I do like hops and a bitter brew, but this one is a low 24 IBU and my non-IPA friends like it. It is a great summer beer and will do again! I used a yeast starter (48 hours stirring), and oxygenate always. Probably the best yet!
Thoroughly enjoyed this product. Im going to order again for the 3rd time.
I didn't think the two packages of yeast was necessary because it foamed out of control. Other than that I skipped the secondary and found the beer was very tasty and enjoyed by my friends.
Perfect combo of grains, syrups and hops, it was very good even when I tasted the dregs from the primary fermentation. Now with the grapefruit flavoring and bottle conditioning, it may be my best brew yet.
Tip: if you use fizzy drops for priming, mix the grapefruit granules with a bit of vodka and sugar and add to bottling to ensure even diffusion.
