Oktoberfest Extract Beer Recipe Kit
This famous German style is stronger than an everyday lager and is the fuel for Oktoberfest celebrations all over the world. The original pre-industrial Oktoberfest was called Märzenbier, brewed at the end of the brewing season in the spring to be lagered in caves all summer for fall and harvest festivities. Our kit will give you a full-bodied and elegant red-amber beer with a subdued German noble hop bitterness and complex malty profile that great all year round.
Due to the high starting gravity of this kit, we recommend pitching multiple packs of yeast or preparing a yeast starter for best results.

When I read through the instructions for making this kit, I was very worried about the temperatures recommended for best results. Since I don't have refrigeration that I could use effectively, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to make the kit. But I decided to just brew it like I have done with the others, and see what would happen. Well, no worries - it turned out very well. I just last night drank the first pint, and liked it, but still I kind of wonder about trying another lager. I guess I'll figure that out later. Thanks!
My only problem is that I am not patient enough to allow the beer to age as long as suggested before I drink. The beer just gets better everyday. I love the after taste.
I have ordered and brewed this quite a few times since I started brewing 4 years ago. I use the SafLager W-34/70 yeast. I do prefer the dry yeast for all my brewing. Just follow the directions and you will have yourself a great brew. It does seem to get a little smother with a month or 2 aging after it is finished lagering, which is why I usually have brew day in March for this one.
This is my favorite beer kit and makes my favorite beer. I prefer to use SAFale US-05 ale yeast instead of a lager yeast. Happy Happy
