Imperial Yeast A10 Darkness
This beautiful strain ferments very well in darker worts. Darkness produces a unique flavor characteristics that match well with roasted and caramel malts. This strain is alcohol tolerant, making a good choice for most high gravity beers.
*NOTE:*During summer months, we include complimentary ice packs will all liquid yeast orders. However, it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will stay frozen given transit times and particularly hot temperatures. For this reason, we recommend ordering dry yeast during summer months.

This is a fantastic yeast for porters and stouts. I have used it for a coffee stout and a bourbon barrel porter with great success. I made a 1.5L starter to give this yeast a high cell count for the 1.65 gravity porter,
The strain is fairly aggressive and will floc well after fermentation, but I would recommend a blow-off tube for other than a lower gravity recipe.
This yeast produced very few off-flavors as compared to other yeasts I have tried for stouts and porters. I have to believe that using better crystal malts and well-oxygenating the wort have something to do with the smoother flavor as well.
Propagated this up for a 10.5% abv English barleywine. Beer attenuated out quick and transferred out for aging in 2 weeks!
