Glass, 10-inch thermometer reads in 1° increments. Not for use in boiling liquids.
Reads in Celsius and Fahrenheit (-18°-104° C, 1° increments; 0°-220° F, 2° increments). Float it in a mash and leave it to equilibriate for convenient readings. Not recommended for boiling temperatures.
It does what is say and is pretty basic. Takes a minute to get used to the way the temperature graduations are labeled but it seems they are like that for convenience and not really an issue.
I don't use it as often as my lab and dial thermos. The response time is slower so you can decide what practical use to assign this piece of hardware.
Im tired of loosing my thermometer in the mash tun. This thing does the trick!
I bought this as a replacement for another floating thermometer. Just have to be careful not to let it "dive" into the pot or the tip will shatter when it hits the bottom.
I ignored other reviews that said this would break, I figured they must not know what they are doing. Wrong. This thing broke within an hour of the first brew day I used it. The bottom just burst off going from hot to cold water. (Not even extreme temps, my 148 degree mash to my sanitizer bucket). Luckily it shattered in the bucket and not my mash. Just don't buy this product, will not make it passed your first use, and will save you a potential ruined brew day and a major headache.
