Fill the Bubbler Airlock with water and insert in drilled stopper or bung to vent gases during fermentation.
"Bubbler" style airlock makes a gratifying "bloop" noise during active fermentation. It is the preferred airlock for secondary fermentation, as it is possible to monitor the pressure inside the fermenter.
To use: Insert assembled airlock into the hole of the rubber stopper that fits your current jug or carboy. The airlock cap should always stay on top when in use; it has several small holes in it that allow gas to escape but prevent the water inside from quickly spilling out if tipped or jostled.
The initial 1 gallon fermenter had several cracks in the bottom of the fermenter. Emailed Customer Service and after 3 days got a response back which Northern Brewer immediately took care of the problem by replacing the fermenter. The new fermenter came in excellent condition and I immediately put it into use.
Easier, economical, and fermentation/gas bubbles more visible than the three piece kind.
Works great always - easy
I have two of these and they are super great for wine and beer making. The siphon is the best thing about these making transfers a breeze. Easy to keep clean with the wide mouth and the plastic resists things that stick to other glass vessels such as hops, grains and yeast. The price makes owning a few worth it.
I've been using a 5-gal bucket fermenter for the past 3 years, and finally upgraded to the Big Mouth bubbler and this airlock. It's the first time my airlock actually worked. I wasn't sure what the noise was when it first started showing activity. Very exciting stuff.
