Grainfather Conical Fermenter - Pro Edition
Take control of your fermentation by giving yeast the perfect environment to optimize your beer flavor profile. The Grainfather Conical Fermenter - Pro Edition features double-walled, stainless steel construction for durability and insulation and INCLUDES the Dual Valve Tap and Digital Temperature Controller.
Dial in your fermentation temperature with the Digital Controller. Use the Dual Valve Tap to take samples and when fermentation is finished, dump or harvest your yeast from the cone and transfer your beer all with the same valve. Samples and transfers are pulled from above the sediment line allowing for clearer beer while allowing for yeast collection from the bottom of the fermenter.
The Grainfather Conical Fermenter has been designed to give you the best in fermenting performance. Featuring the Golden Angle of 60°, the optimum angle for dropping yeast to the bottom without clinging to the sides, you'll have no problem getting a clearer beer faster than standard, flat-bottomed fermenters.
Dual Valve Tap
Using the same concepts used in commercial breweries, the Dual Valve Tap ensures easy sampling and transferring while retaining the ability to dump or harvest yeast for reuse.
Control the fermentation temperature by accurately dialing in the ideal temperature. Also includes an option to set up to 4 fermentation profiles, each with up to 5 temperature stages.

Add the Grainfather Conical Fermenter Cooler Connection Kit for use with Grainfather Glycol Chiller.
You're not out of luck if you do not own a Grainfather Glycol Chiller. To chill the Grainfather Conical Fermenter, you will need the Grainfather Conical Fermenter Temperature Controller as well as your own cooler or bucket. Then add the Grainfather 12VDC Cooling Pump & 3 way cord to run the cool water through the conical jacket. The Grainfather 12VDC Cooling Pump & 3 way cord does not work with the Grainfather Glycol Chiller.
Well worth it and now comes with WiFi option. Great way crash the beer and maintain temp threw formenting stages then direct to leaving. Love it with Grainfather brewing system and conical formentior repeating your favorite beers is now super easy. Man this make beer great and have friend hanging around watching makes look like a pro.
Very well made product. Great at what it is designed for, especially if paired with a chiller. The only reason it is not 5 stars is the legs. The leg design (length and width) makes it difficult to use the excellent dual valve.Definitely worth the money, but I'm working on a leg redesign.
Great design, easy to use. I especially love the dual tap valve...Removes the yeast easy and take samples painlessly.
Digital controller holds temp really well in heat mode.
I bought the cooling kit and am currently fermenting a low temp yeast with a target temp 58 F. Its getting down there with the help of a lot of ice. I think if I would have configured a cooler with lid to hold the ice water w/pump it would be more efficient.
My first beer fermented as advertised...came out clear, crisp and delicious!!
Highly recommend.Quality construction and features you would find in commercial fermenters.Has streamlined my fermenting and bottling process by not requiring moving to secondary fermenters and or bottling bucket.
This is the most life-changing piece of brewing equipment I've purchased since I got my first glass carboy 25 years ago. First of all, get the pro addition. You need the digital temp control box and the dual valve - without those items, it's not nearly as useful (I can't imagine).
What I love:
1 - Wide lid at top means it's easier to sanitize and easier to clean compared to traditional carboys. Saves your back, big time.
2 - Ability to have complete control over the fermentation temperature at all times. This, alone, will make an astonishing difference in your final product and give you flexibility to make any style, including lagers. I got the cooling pump kit, also, but haven't used it yet.
3 - Dual valve means you can easily drain off the trub and spent hops 2 days after fermentation starts and throughout the ensuing weeks, so no need for secondary fermentation. One fewer transfer/cleaning/sanitizing project is worth a lot! Also makes it easier to harvest yeast, though I don't do that. Yet.
4 - I also bought the pressure transfer kit, so doing a closed transfer to my keg was a piece of cake. Granted, I had to buy a few extra parts and do some reverse engineering to make this work because the the liquid line spout is 1/2 inch for some reason.
As others mentioned, the location of the valves is not terribly convenient, but not terribly troublesome, either. Just have to get down on the ground once every few days. I've only used this once, but I did note how near impossible it is to fully clean the inside of the dual valve where the trub comes out. If this contaminates my next batch, I will have to change my rating. We'll see.
I bought this together with the Grainfather, but if you only have money to buy one or the other, I'd start with this (assuming you don't already have a canonical).
