Roggenbier All Grain Beer Recipe Kit
A version of dunkelweizen (German dark wheat beer) that brewed with a large percentage of rye instead of wheat, Roggenbier is an old Bavarian specialty. Our kit exhibits a rich reddish-brown color and the pungent spiciness of rye malt with bready, malty overtones. Excellent with cold cuts and rye bread or crackers (of course!).

I have not bottled the Roggenbier yet -- I have tasted it and it seems to have a final taste on the tongue that is almost like smokey or burnt -- I wish there was another person to asked about this -- It seems there are many variations of Roggenbier profiles
I am a fan of Hefeweizen so I had to try this beer.
I had no problems with stuck sparges.
I fermented at 62F with WB-06 and had nice clove flavor plus banana.
The banana flavor faded rapidly though.
I will brew this beer again as part of my regular rotation.
Really fun to brew and very happy with the result.
Dark but very drinkable. I like it better than a traditional dunkle.
Very high esters. Interesting smells tastes and color.
