Citra® Hops (Pellet)
Since its release in 2008, Citra has been one of the most recognized and used flavor and aroma hops by craft brewers and homebrewers alike. Notable commercial examples are endless but Psuedo Sue from Toppling Goliath and Zombie Dust from Three Floyds are notorious for using Citra as the sole hop. This American hop has a lineage featuring Hallertau Mittelfruh, US Tettnang, East Kent Goldings, Brewer’s Gold, and others. An Excellent Hop!! Thanx!!
Citra May be well on its way to becoming a cliche, but that doesn’t mean it’s not an excellent hops. It adds a freshness and brightness I just love, especially as a dry hop addition. In my latest APA I added an ounce late in the boil of a 5-gallon batch to compliment the 60-minutes of horizon, then dry-hopped 2oz for the last four days in the fermenter. It made for exactly the crisp, refreshing summer beer I was aiming for.
