Kveik is a Norwegian word meaning yeast. In the Norwegian farmhouse tradition, kveik was preserved by drying and passed from generation to generation. Kveik is the original, traditional dried yeast! The LalBrew® Voss strain was obtained from Sigmund Gjernes (Voss, Norway), who has maintained this culture using traditional methods since the 1980s and generously shared it with the wider brewing community. LalBrew® Voss supports a wide range of fermentation temperatures between 25-40°C (77-104°F) with a very high optimal range of 35-40°C (95-104°F). Very fast fermentations are achieved within the optimal temperature range with full attenuation typically achieved within 2-3 days. The flavor profile is consistent across the entire temperature range: neutral with subtle fruity notes of orange and citrus. Flocculation is very high producing clear beers without filtration or use of process aids.

Your gonna need a blow off tube

You may want to split your batch into 2 fermenters . From packet to wort you can see air lock activity in 15 minutes. You can have a beer from the 4 -6 percent abv range ready to drink in 7-8 days with this yeast. The only downside to it is the strong sulfur smell it produces. Want a pale ale ready to drink in a week.....this is your yeast.

Kveik kveik

It was my fondness for farmhouse ale that persuaded me to give kveik a place in my brewhouse. It's a real workhorse that propagates well, though it's flavor is bland enough to make a good platform for malt forward distinctively hopped brews. Fermentation starts fast, and I use a couple of drops of Fermcap-S in the Bubbler to control any blowouts. I'm glad Lalbrew offers Kveik and happy that I tried it.

This is great yeast. Lots of flavor and works fast. My cousin uses it for apple cider and it easily handles the higher alcohol with complex flavors.

Voss is a beast!!

I've used this to process a few ales, and so far this thing has blown through the sugars with no off flavors that I can detect. My fermentation time dropped from 10 days down to four. I usually let it condition for about another two or three days and then go ahead and keg it.
