I'm using this in my HLT and it is perfect to get all the water out of the tank. I've only brewed twice with this but it was easy to install and so far it has been leak free.
This makes transferring from the fermenter to a keg extremely easy. No more siphoning.
I have had a chance to look at most of the weldless bulkheads available and this one is by far the best available. And don’t bother with cobbling together various pipe fittings to make your own, you will be disappointed and the results will be half-assed. This bulkhead makes a clean fit on the kettle interior with a high temperature silicone O-ring and comes with a push-to-fit dip tube tube that is easy to remove and replace using only your fingers - no other fittings or tools needed. On the exterior, no other fittings necessary just screw your female ball valve right to the 1/2” NPT male threads.
I can’t say enough good things about this design. For the DIY kettle project, look no further than the EZ Clean Flush Mount Bulkhead.
Just added this to brew kettle and it works like a charm. No leaks and little dead space.
I really like this new bulkhead.I now have nearly zero dead space in my kettle. My one complaint is that the portion inside the kettle is round instead of a hex head. This makes it much more difficult to tighten the outer bolt and then tighten the valve without subsequently untightening the bolt. I haven't had any issues with leaks, but I would feel much more confident if I was able to tighten it more than just finger tight. I haven't had any issues with fitting the dip tube into the bulkhead like some of the earlier reviews describe.
