Notes from Brad, Northern Brewer Head Brewer:
“Thanks to Imperial Yeast, we are proud to offer this recipe kit formulated around the Mexican lager yeast strain Que Bueno. What is otherwise a simple pilsner-style beer is taken to the next level with this impressively clean and crisp lager yeast. The key to brewing this beer is all about the yeast - pitching a large amount of yeast and ensuring it is provided proper fermentation temperatures will make this a truly memorable beer. While Imperial Yeast does provide 200 billion cells in each package, making a yeast starter or pitching multiple packs of yeast is recommended for the best results. If you prefer to use dry yeast, that's cool too, as the same recommendations still apply. This beer may take a while to make, but the end result is worth it. If you have the patience to let this beer lager for the full 4 weeks as outlined in the instructions, you will end up with a bright, clean, clear, crisp lager with minimal esters and a satisfying dry finish. Kick back, soak up the sun and bask in the glory of your delicious homemade Mexican-style lager.”
This was a Great lager !
After four weeks in my primary . I kegged it and let it sit for three days with 30 lbs of pressure .
This kit turned out awesome!
Great froth head like a cappuccino and a delicious sweet bread notes . I highly recommend this kit .
Brewed this on my unibrau, straight forward brew day and used the Brülosophy lager method. Turned out perfect, nice light full flavored lager, very similar to modelo. Will order again
Nice light lager, somewhat plain and (very) drinkable. Gets better in time as it lagers. Went quick! Imperial Yeast L09 Que Bueno Mexican Lager was worth it, nailed the flavor.
The Atlántico Mexican Lager All Grain Beer Recipe Kit made a wonderful light lager beer perfect for the summer. I am an IPA guy and I love this lager! I brewed it for my daughters and will bottle some of it for when they come to visit. This is also an ideal beer for someone who does not drink or someone new to drinking craft/homebrew. I was worried that brewing a great lager beer was not possible for the home brewer. Boy was I wrong! I fermented it in my 5-Gal NB Big Mouth Bubbler (really nice!) that just fit in to an old dorm-size refrigerator controlled at 50-F by my NB temp controller. I used the Imperial Que Bueno yeast and I made a small starter, which probably was not needed given 200-billoin cells in the packet. After 2 weeks I transferred it to a 5-gal keg that I use as a brite tank (1” shorter dip tube). It lagered (sat) in my Keezer at around 35-F for another 4-weeks then I transferred it to a NB keg (also very nice!). This beer is highly recommended.
Que Bueno yeast was fast, clean, and I was drinking this beer in 4 weeks. Single vessel primary 9 days then bottled! Taste great and lovely foamy head and light golden color. Puts a Corona to shame!
