Rum Runner Stout 1 Gallon Beer Recipe Kit
The days of the rum runner are long gone, but this bold Imperial stout bears their standard. Full-proof, never watered-down, the Runner delivers roasty espresso complemented with citrusy American hops and a fierce alcohol bite. Its a perfect background for additions of rum or whiskey, pre- or post-bottling. English ale yeast ensures notes of fruit to contrast the aggressive dark chocolate character and ensure a dry finish.

I added some nice Dark rum after 1 week and let sit another 2 weeks. When I went to bottle it...it smelled wonderful! Now just waiting to give it time to carbonate. 1st time brewing this one but if it taste as good as it smelled...I will be making this one again...and again.
liked rum runner.
Nice flavor. Had some issues with carbonation in some of the bottles, most of them were flat even after 4 weeks in the bottle, but loved the flavor. Will buy again
Easy to brew and ferment. Conditioning/carbonating in bottles now. I think it’ll be great. Good starter kit.
I followed directions with a couple twists. 1) massaged wet coffee beans in my grain bag and soaked in cooling wort for 15 minutes, 2) added 2T whipped marshmallow last 10 minutes of boil. 3 days later the ceiling is sprayed with brown muck, thus I learned how the high sugar content of marshmallow hyperactivates the yeast. After 10 days I transferred to a secondary for another 2 weeks to clean it up. Tried 1 a week after bottling, decent but needed more time. 7 weeks now and it's a beautifully smooth creamy stout, thick head, low IBV and with the added sugar it measured at roughly 8.5% ABV.
