Works great so far!
Baby sure gets things boiling quick! So powerful it's a little hard to maintain a mash temp during warmer weather, but I'm sure it'll be useful during winter brewing.
This burner is sturdy and does get the job done. It seems to be incredibly efficient on gas as well. We've ran it through 4 brew cycles already, and have roughly a tank left of propane. It is also sturdy, and I trust to hold weight just fine.
The one and only downside is the paint used on the stand itself. You'll see this in a bunch of other reviews as well, but the pain 100% will burn off, but the worst that happens is the burn smells bad for the first few runs. your beer will be absolutely fine, it won't ruin anything, but make sure you are in a very well ventilated shop or outside.
Even with that, I'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. it is a beast.
This is my second dark star burner. I can't figure out why the paint burns off them and boils off the name plate. smells terrible. once that's done the burner works great.
Like the title says, the burner does it's job great, BUT when I used it the first time a large portion of the burners painted surfaces melted/flaked off, causing some stinky smoke. Some of the paint was melted to the bottom of the kettle I was using, and the darkstar label is totally scorched black. Now some of the kettle supports are just bare metal, we'll see how long it lasts.
