Green Widow™ Hop Spider
Designed for brewers, by brewers.
Sludge in your boil kettle is now a thing of the past. The Green Widow™ hop spider allows for massive hop additions, spices, herbs, or anything else you can imagine adding to the boil.
Integrated hooks allow the Green Widow to hang over the edge of your kettle into the wort. The rubberized handle makes for easy removal and doubles as a hanger for storage. Constructed with a tough stainless steel frame and heavy duty 400 micron stainless steel mesh, the Green Widow will stand up to even the hoppiest IPA.
- 400 micron stainless steel mesh will keep hop trub and other kettle additions out of the final wort.
- Rubberized insulating handle for protection from heat.
- 14" tall by 6" diameter basket size - perfect size for circulation.
- Built in hooks to hang on the kettle edge.
- Capacity volume of 1 Ib. pellet hops.
We recently added a plate chiller to our brewing setup. One of the recommendations is to keep as much “crud” out of the wort so the chiller doesn’t get clogged. This hop basket keeps most of the hop sludge inside the basket. Clean up is quick and easy with a sprayer. Should have bought this long ago!
Wasn’t sure at first as I read about less efficiency from the hops. But I’ve brewed 6 different brews with it now and haven’t found any less hop contributions . The biggest plus is I end up with more clean wort.
Works great. Way less trub at the bottom of you carboys. Would recommend it to my friends.
I have been brewing for sixteen years.in the beginning hop waste was my main
concern.whirl pooling did not seem to work.grew my own hops for a few years
I would strain the hops out after the boil did not like this either.so I just settled
on after cooling letting beer settle for a couple of hours then racking without
picking up any hop waste, there was always three to four quarts I would dump.
I always brew six to seven gallons so I could deal with waste some beer.
Now with the green thing I tried it twice I do not like it you need to add two to three times more hops so I will not use it in the boil.now I am using it after
cooling letting it settle for two or three hours some times over night in refrigerator
Then racking then pouring into green widow swirl it around collect two or three
quarts dump into fermenter.i have this a few times I do not know how long I will do this.this the reason for two stars.
