Are these hardy enough to grow in Zone 4?
A shopper on Mar 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: On vacation a couple of years ago, I saw a ton of hops growing on Long Island. Don't know what variety but it probably doesn't matter. USDA says zones 3 through 8. It dies back to the roots every year. This is a summer plant only. The roots can survive to -20 in the ground, but new growth is susceptible to frost. You might have to protect it in the spring until it gets established. If you have rabbits and chipmunks, you really need to protect it, with a cage. They'll eat the whole damn thing in the spring.
