Perfect for kegging your homebrew, cider, or soda, these reconditioned ball lock 5-gallon kegs are used, but have been tested and approved to hold pressure – their most important task. Though the exteriors may have cosmetic damage, we guarantee that they are pressure-capable and we personally pressure test each and every one when it comes through our doors.

Needed, but not included, is a CO2 cylinder, Regulator, and Ball Lock Gas (KX03) and Beverage (KX05) lines.

Product Details
Along with pressure testing each keg, we replace the lid o-rings and outer-post o-rings, if needed. Many of our competitors do not do this, but we want to make absolutely sure you are satisfied – even if it's a used keg at a low price! Our technicians have also cleaned each keg with a caustic soda rinse – but even so – the keg may retain a sweet smell similar to a lemon-lime soft drink. The keg exteriors have not had extensive cleaning, so as with most "used" soda kegs we recommend that you thoroughly clean the keg inside (again) and out before using.

A note about o-rings: If you are concerned about the condition of the o-rings you may purchase extra o-rings separately, in case any tear during use.

This amazing price is worth a few dents! Because these kegs are used, many show exterior wear and tear that will not affect the keg's performance to hold pressure. Holding pressure is the keg's main function, and it will keep your beer tasting fresh and delicious. The affordability of buying "reconditioned" is definitely worth a few scratches and dents.

These kegs are sourced from a variety of vendors and are not customer returns. They may not look new, but they work like new, thus the major discounted price from that of a brand new keg.

Note: Keg Lube can help prevent CO2 leaks and prolong the life of the keg seals.

Works great, smaller parts all look nice and new. No smell, no leaks. Just not quite as pretty as a new one if you can handle that

I like the keg. Itâ??s in great condition, all the seals are good, it was clean, etc. When I originally bought my kegging system, I also bought a tool kit. Iâ??m a little disappointed that the ratchet in the tool kit doesnâ??t fit the posts on this keg.

Excellent value!
I have been brewing for years and this was my first experience kegging my beer. I debated purchasing new kegs, but trusted Northern Brewer with a reconditioned keg. It was clean and ready to go. I will be ordering more soon. The first beer that I kegged was the Queen of Africa and it was outstanding.

Decided to try a Reconditioned Keg
I haven't actually used it yet. First impression was that it smelled like soda. I am I wrong, or is this the most expensive reconditioned key on the market (price + shipping cause price alone doesn't do me any good). Someone else made a point that it's "reconditioned" not "used". Seals look new, so I anticipate that after I put in some more work cleaning it, it will be fine.

The second thing that I noticed was the post needed a 12-point wrench to remove. I don't have a 12-point wrench. Between the reconditioned keg and the wrench I could have got a new keg with some walking-around-money left over. I don't have problems when it comes to buying tools, but I think this 12-point wrench will only be used for this one keg. The other kegs I got for NB were new and had 6-point posts, which a regular socket fits on.

I'll use it and if it holds pressure and if it does, I'll probably use it for years to come. I am just frustrated with first impressions. My advice - get a new one or buy a used one locally.

The item was dirty and had not been cleaned. It smelled of soda and was certainly not reconditioned. I would have expected new poppets and o rings as well.

Would not buy another
I understand these kegs are used but to what extent I didn't know. Mine arrived today and it looks terrible. It is so beat up and dented its embarrassing. At least 8 large dents in the side, the rubber top and bottom is entirely cracking apart. The lid is actually rusting down by the o-ring. The valves are sealed but one looks as if the internals are ready to shoot out the valve. There is some strange debris down by the siphon tube. Had I known the actual condition of these I would not have made the purchase. My local brew shop has used kegs in much better condition for only $75.00. After receiving a keg in this condition I may never shop with Northern Brewer again.

Really guys?
Reconditioned means it works out of the box.I don't think reconditioned means there's still rootbeer residue(not just smell)Or that you can unscrew the posts with your fingersOr that it doesn't hold pressure unless you use too much lube or blast it with pressure to pop it sealed

Response from Northern Brewer
That sounds like one missed being cleaned and reconditioned. It is still a good idea to clean a used keg upon receipt. Customer service is contacting you to arrange for replacement.

Northern Brewer
Thanks again
The refurbished kegs from NB are always top notch and unless you're worried about cosmetics these do the trick. One must have slipped through the thorough check but NB was quick to remedy the issue. In the very rare case the refurbished keg doesn't meet your standards they'll make it right.

Money well spent
The first keg I got was a complete mess, leaked in an impressive way and had a good size dent. I should have known the folks at Northern Brewer would make it right. Even though it took me well past an reasonable return-by date to fully test it out, they helped me trouble shoot via email and shipped me a replacement free of charge when that failed. . The new (reconditioned) keg works like a charm. Prost!

how do you clean these
D A on Mar 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Kegs can be cleaned as other equipment. A solution of PBW followed by rinsing and a solution of Star San should clean and sanitize your keg.
What are the dimensions of these kegs?
C J on Oct 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The kegs will be about 26" tall with a disconnect attached. The keg is roughly 8.5" in diameter.
please explain reconditioned; i have seen 4 used kegs for $240 elsewhere. i assume there is a difference?
S E on Jul 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Reconditioned is just that - reconditioned. Inspected and repaired to near new condition. These still may have scratches and dents. If you do your homework you should be able to find new NSF certified kegs for about the same price.
