Flask is too small
The flask is too small. If you're a beginner get a bigger flask. One that is at least twice the size of the one in this kit. The fast pitch starter is the goods! Really makes life a bit easier.

Will Never Brew Without This Again!!!!
Very simple, very clean, and it works!! Yesterday was my brew day for a couple of batches...and this was my first attempt with a starter. I smacked the yeast packages about a day before I put together the starter, mixed them up the day before brew day, and wow what a difference. Both of my brews were noticeably fermenting within 4-5 hours of when I pitched the yeast. The canned wort even makes is simpler! Sanitize, dump the wort in, pour the yeast in, shake, and get ready to rock-n-roll folks!

Couldn't be any easier!
Only used 2 of the cans so far but both worked great. Fermentation kicked off really fast and I'm hitting my numbers.

D R on Dec 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure I understand the question... You do NOT drink this, you use it to make a yeast starter.
Do I need an airlock and bung for this?
Blake A on Mar 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No don't use a air lock for flask it should come with foam stopper use that or you can wrap tin foil around top! That kit was awesome found great improvements with my beer buy using starter and the already made wort it great! Good luck
Is this a foam stopper that's included with the flask and Fast Pitch?
A shopper on Feb 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is exactly as it appears. You'll need to also buy the correct size drilled rubber stopper to use an air lock for this. I had to create a makeshift one since I didn't get the stopper
is it wrong to use the whole can of the wort and pitch inside of the first fermentor?
A shopper on Mar 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I used the fast pitch several times, the whole can with the yeast and agitated as instructed. The yeast really get active quickly. I put the whole flask of starter into the the fermentation vessel, normally the yeast begins working within 2-3 hours aggressively. I even needed to use a blow off tube sometimes because the stuff was foaming out like nuts. I believe you are suppose to use the whole can, otherwise you basically defeat the purpose of getting billions of yeast cells growing.
Is the 1000 ml flask big enough to make a starter for a five gallon batch?
Mark C on Aug 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is. Some very high-gravity beers would benefit from an even-larger starter, but a 1000 ml flask is big enough for a lot of different brews, and is enough to get a beer off to a fast, strong start. - Mike W, Northern Brewer
Is the Fast Pitch canned wort compatible with all types of yeast (i.e. dry and liquid yeast), or is there a preferred form of yeast ?
C D on Jan 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I mostly use dry yeasts; however, contradictory to what some may say it works well with liquid yeasts also. It's a good and very convenient product_ I highly recommend it.
If I only make 1 gal batches can the can be divided into 5ths and saved?
A shopper on May 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Most people would not be making yeast starters for one gallon batches. Yeast starters are typically done with liquid yeast, and not dry yeast. The one gallon kits will come with dry yeast, for ease of use, and lower cost. If the dry yeast that came with the beer kit is used, there will be no need for a yeast starter. It would not be advisable to try to save part of a can of FastPitch, as it might not be sterile if kept open in a fridge.
What is the typical expiration date for a can? 6, 9, 12 months?
P I on May 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I do not know. I probably make 3 or 4 5-gallons a year. Hope the 4-pac I bought will be good for the last batch. Harry
