Hard water!
Started adding gypsum to my brewing water with excellent results. Highly recommended--and this is an easy to uses source. Don't expect it to be in a screw-top bottle, though. Mine was in a ziplock bag.

BEST ANSWER: there is a ton of info out there on water chemistry. gypsum can be helpful if you have soft water and you want to have more ions for a purpose, i.e. it can help make the hops in an IPA pop out. but if you start with hard water adding gypsum can make the beer way too astringent. I encourage you to do an internet search for gypsum and brewing and you will get a ton of info. Certainly you should get a copy of your water report before making any decisions on additives.
Picture shows 2oz bottle, yet Size option says 1lb. Which is right?

BEST ANSWER: The product is sold by the pound, we no longer carry a 2 oz container of gypsum. I hope that this helps!
