Maris Otter is an "heirloom" barley variety grown entirely on the British Isles. It is a stubborn paragon of character and flavor, trumping commercial desires for high yield and disease resistance. Though replacement barley varieties have come after, it remains the most prized British malt for an astounding depth of flavor and aroma.

Much like that heirloom malt, we have insisted upon a classic formula - 100% Maris Otter, with no added caramel malts or simple sugars, no corners cut in the name of cost. Maillard Malt â?? more than just for beer
The malt was amazing! We used it to make the bagels i was telling you about . I sent 6 bagels to my cousin in Oklahoma & he couldnâ??t stop raving about them - and trust me - heâ??s NOT one gush over anything ! I am hoping to make up another batch real soon. Maybe some of that malt will make its way into a batch beer as well ð???

Love the flavor!
Used in a Wee Heavy that I just bottled. The flavor is already amazing with an incredible malt forward flavor. Would recommend for Barley wines, Scottish ales, IPA or any beer where the malt wants to be noticed and appreciated.

Saves time. Get an MO based brew without mashing.
This is a nice product, not available elsewhere? Gives the MO flavor and body, saving the work. Maybe I'm lazy (yes ) but it works for me. English Brown ready to bottle, IPA fermenting strong.

is this item gluten free?

BEST ANSWER: I have no idea about the gluten level but I suspect no. White labs makes an enzyme used in wort to reduce gluten bonding proteins. The product is called clarity ferm. I have used it and I did notice a difference in the beer. Add clarity ferm to the wort at the same time you pitch the yeast.
how much beer do these malts make?

BEST ANSWER: I usually use two cans of malt extract syrup to total 6.6 lbs or one 6 lb container if that is how they are packaged. I would then add a half to one and a half pounds of specialty malts depending on the beer style.
How long will it stay fresh?

BEST ANSWER: We recommend using it up within 6 months of purchase, but they will last a year easy.
Is there any difference between your malt extract syrup and the tins of malt extract

BEST ANSWER: The liquid malt syrup in jugs is going to have a greater variety than the syrup in cans and will also have better freshness.
