Haven't had a chance to start my fruit wine. Since i live close to the strawberry capital Potteet ,TX my first fruit wine will be a strawberry wine. Very pleased with the kit comes with everything I need to get started so i can hardly wait. I'll be making two 1gallon batches one in the 1gallon glass bubbler and the second in the bucket that comes with the kit. Overall thank you northern brewer for the great service. My only complaint would be that the kit didn't come with the fernagrf. Still great kit for the price.

Nice but not all you need.
The kit has everything needed to make wine. There are a few more things that need to be considered you will need corks and a corker, I recommend getting a drilled rubber stopper for the fermenter, and most important is temperature control. We have only had our moscato wine kit fermenting for a little over 1 week tasted the wine and had a little carbonation and an almost sour grape taste. We are hoping a little more wine taste after secondary fermenting. Have noticed after moving to glass jug no co2 coming from air lock I think the plastic lid is not sealing well. Hence the drilled stopper.

Disappointed in the pail and missing a few things.
No excuse for including a bucket with a single lid. I was led to buy this product in store when they were out of the Master vintner small batch wine starter kit. First off pail stinks, lid is only for one use but they do not tell you that. I may have messed up my batch because of it. Once you rip off the strip it is useless. I closed the top to use my cleaner on the pail (slosh it around) and it is impossible to get the lid off so I removed the strip. Well went to sanitize it and it leaked out. While I decided to still use it, I figured it sealed enough for air and would not sell a kit that leaked, Well it leaked. So I hope I did not trash my Green Apple Riesling, I poured it into a bigger carboy.

Also the kit is not complete. Missing thief, test jar, and has cheap racking cane.

I do not think it is bad for fresh fruit but if you want control and a seal stay away. Other than that it is not a bad kit and comes with stuff to make fresh fruit recipes. I also realise the bigger bucket is for fresh fruit since they typically need more room.

Gift review
I bought this as a gift. So I have the 3-gallon identical set. She wanted to give it a try before she drove all the way in. For her it's been very simple and she's been very happy going forward. She hasn't gotten to her first bottling yet. It came with everything she needed. Definitely the perfect starter set. Everything arrived in good condition and as stated on the listing.

Fun for a beginner!
So far so good. Still waiting on the final product but the interim tastings have been promising. Instructions are great, a little overwhelming but to be expected when I've not studied before. Let the experiment begin!

Would the "Little Big Mouth Bubbler" be big enough to replace the 2gal plastic bucket? With the extra space that the fruit pieces takes up i wasn't sure if it would be big enough. I prefer using glass over plastic
B R on Nov 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We don't have a kit designed around it but yes the little big mouth bubbler is large enough to hold the primary ferment that the bucket is there for. I hope this helps! Cheers! James J
Does the wine have to be bottled or can it be kept in a gallon container?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You could leave it in the gallon jug after it has finished all the fermenting and it is clean but I prefer bottling it. I guess it depends on how fast you are going to drink it!
Would this kit work for fresh frontenac gris grapes?
G I on Aug 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I believe so. I'm just a beginner, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. It included all the equipment and additives needed for any fruit wine.
how long does the wine take to make?
S O on Mar 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This kit only has the equipment/additives needed. I purchases blackberry concentrate from another source...it took maybe an hour/hour and a half to do...then you wait for the fermentation process, etc to happen and then bottle. Since this is my first attempt at wine making (been doing beer for years) I can't really comment on time frame to bottling then ageing after bottling
How many batches are the ingredients good for?
Richard S on Jan 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Normally one. This is normal.
Why no degassing in the wine making video?
Marwin L on Aug 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: More than likely the wine degassing time frame and video filming time frame did not match up. I believe Tim explains at what time it gets degassed and as he aptly puts it - it was stirred once a day for 7 days.
bought the kit but am confused on the instruction piece...very vague...suggestions on how to reach out..someone said they contacted the "company" was it NB or another company. Thanks!
