Omega Yeast British Ale I

SKU# OYL006

Flat Rate Shipping only $7.99 only from Northern Brewer
A proven and popular choice for all British styles. This strain allows both malt and hop character to come through the profile. Highly flocculant and highly attenuative, this strain will exhibit the characteristic clumping found in many highly flocculant strains once it settles out. This is normal. Ferments well down to 64°F.

We strongly recommend ordering dry yeast in the summer months. We do include complimentary Cold Ice Packs with all liquid yeasts. However, it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will survive the trip, given transit times and particularly hot temperatures.

Great British ale strain.
I pitched this directly on top of a batch of 1.035 bitter that hadn't started fermenting. The wort had been oxygenated at 1L/min for 1 minute. This yeast took right off and fermented down to 1.007 in 4 days at 67? I let it go a few more and transferred it to some 2.5 gal plastic casks. Firstly this strain gets very clear beer without filtering but it also drops fast so you may need an extra dose to fully attenuate a big beer. Or a properly sized starter. That being said all the hallmarks of a good English strain are here, light ester production and cleaning flavor that lets the malt and hops of even a light bitter show through nicely. 150Bn cell count is cool just watch that if you make a starter you don't overpitch if you are used to a normal 100Bn cell pack.
