Omega Yeast Kolsch II

$8.99

SKU# OYL044

Flat Rate Shipping only $7.99 only from Northern Brewer
An appropriate yeast for light beers such as kolsch, alt, blond and honey. Accentuates hop flavors. The slight sulfur produced during fermentation will disappear with age and leave a clean, lager-like ale. An ideal choice for those who would like to brew a lager-like beer, but do not have the temperature control equipment to brew a true lager.

We strongly recommend ordering dry yeast in the summer months. We do include complimentary Cold Ice Packs with all liquid yeasts. However, it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will survive the trip, given transit times and particularly hot temperatures.

Omega Kolsh II
Like that it ferments at warmer temperatures. The resulting beer that I made tasted as good as the low temperature yeast version. Used a starter. Grain bill was imported German Kolsh grain.

Is this yeast a slow starter? I have seen no activity in the first 48 hours. I have the proper temp and have been swirling it in the carboy

BEST ANSWER: The yeast worked well for me. It started with 24 hours I believe. Do you have a good seal on fermenter? In the past, I have noticed that I didn't see activity in bubbler because the air was escaping around the seal. Hope this helps.
Package said enough to pitch in five gallons. I have not seen any signs of fermentation in over 48 hours. Is this strand slow to start?
