Product Details
Not your typical amber ale—patterned after Belgian-style pale ales, which might be described as slightly less bitter, more fruity versions of English pale ales. Our Phat Tyre kit is copper-red with a fruity, slightly spicy aroma and flavor that comes from a combination of yeast and hops. A blend of Munich, caramel and Victory malts creates a sweet, toasty, bready character that lingers from the aroma through the finish.

Good solid Amber ale
This turned out well. Good color and clarity. I did the protein rest. Maybe that helped the process. Very smooth mouthfeel.

Better than the original
I have brewed this twice and it is better than the beer it is attempting to copy. It might be because it is fresher or maybe just because I brewed it. But if you like the original you will love this.

My wifes favorite recipe
This is one of the few recipes my wife constantly asks for. I even gave her this clone and the real Fat Tire in a blind taste test. She picked the NB Phat Tyre clone over the real thing saying the flavors were more complex and had more depth.

Is this a 60, or 90 minute boil kit? Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: 60 minute boil. There is a 20 minute protein rest prior to the mash.
