Best low cost solution.
We've gone through quite a few of these over the years. They see a lot of use in our small winery. Five years ago we switched to synthetic corks which take a bit more compression to insert. These inexpensive floor corkers are quite satisfactory, but after a few hundred cases they don't compress the corks as well and you get some curling on the bottom edge as the cork goes in. It doesn't seem to affect the synthetic cork performance so much as it is an appearance issue. This happens as well on natural cork except then it could lead to early closure failure. In any case, these corkers are inexpensive enough that we can easily replace them as needed. It would be great if the manufacturer installed replaceable bushings at the stress/wear points so that these units could be easily rebuilt. But I guess for the home wine maker, you could probably get away with one of these for many many years.

Being in a wheelchair corking my bottles was a breeze and I'm paralyzed from the chest down. Was super easy to use I looked at the lever and hand held corkrers and no way was I going to be able to use those devices. After watching a few videos the floor corker was the winner. Great product at a great price.

More than a floor corker.... far more!!!
I've been using this over ten years!!!! I finally wore it out. Estimate that I have corked over 30,000 Bottles!! Why have a fancy corker that you spent a h*ll of a lot more on! Don't pay attention to the guy corking on the floor killing his back. Work smart; NOT hard!

Place your corker on the counter top. Secure it to a small foot print. Keep your bottles within arms reach with NO wlaking of your feet. Secure a container on the side of the vertical portion to hold several hundred corks. When I cork, I have the process down to less than a five seconds per bottle!

For the price of this beautiful machine, save your money, time and efforts into making better wine by using it smartly. Use your back for lifting all those cases you're going to get done with your Portuguese Floor Corker. And you'll also have time to enjoy a good glass of wine with all the time you've saved. A must have for bottling large batches
This is a good piece of machinery. It holds the bottles securely and has a good size footprint that keeps it stable when operating. The actual corking mechanism is smooth and does not require too much effort to operate. It has an easily adjustable depth setting that once set remains consistent. I would highly recommend this corker for bottling larger batches.

Strong and easy
I have used a hand corking device many times and finally decided to spend the money on a floor corker. This one does a fabulous job - is simple to use - places the cork perfectly each time with no problems. A great buy!

What a gem, love it.
I have been struggling with using a hand tool to insert corks. Sore hands, and great physical effort. NO MORE. Got the floor corker and I am very happy with it.

I bought Belgian beer bottles that need to be corked like a champagne bottle with wire cage. There was as sample in the bottles section at one of the stores. I'd like to do this use this to home brew beer and bottle for gifts. Will it work for them?

375 ml Belgian-style Beer Bottles - Cork Finish (Case of 12)
375 ml Belgian-style Beer Bottles - Cork Finish (Case of 12)

I used the Portuguese Floor Corker to push corks into the 375ml bottles for a Belgian Quad. Make sure to purchase the correct size corks and the tool to twist the baskets. It saves a ton of time and effort. One lesson I learned is not to push the corks too far into the bottle. Leave enough to push with the thumbs or twist out. There is nothing wrong with pushing them too far down, just that you’ll likely need a corkscrew. Hope this helps.
Will the portuguese floor corker work for these?

375 ml Clear Bellissima bottles
375 ml Clear Bellissima bottles
BEST ANSWER: This was purchased as a gift. However, I have been using the same corker for over 15 years and it works on all "standard" bottles. From the picture, the Belissima bottles looks pretty tall. I have no experience with these bottles.
So storage space is an issue can the back leg of the corker be easily removed when not in use
Tim C on Mar 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can, and it works great., but even with our tight storage space we haven't needed to remove the leg.
Will this corker handle Champagne bottles and corks?
F L on Jan 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Portuguese floor corker is not recommended for use with Champagne corks.
Will this cork 1.5 liter bottles or just 750 mL?
Kenny on Nov 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It will cork MOST 1.5L bottles...we bottle 25 gallons at a time and we have just a couple 1.5L bottles that are too tall to fit. Overall, this is a great product for the price!
what are the dimension of the corker?
A shopper on Feb 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Rear two leg holes 14-3/8” apart.
16” from front leg hole to rear edge.
40” tall with arm extended up.
If you’re planning to secure it to a board or something, that piece should be a minimum of 15” x 16-1/2”.
I like mine, I do about a batch every month or two, simple to use, I left mine portable and need to put my foot on the front leg to keep it from moving around when inserting a cork. So far after I’m guessing 15 batches, it is holding up just fine. (1 batch = 30 bottles)
The cork insertion arm has an adjustable nut that makes it simple to tweak.
Works fine with 750mL and magnum bottles, 375mL ae too short, but I c-clamped a few blocks of wood onto the black round base and made it work.
Will this corker accept the adapter to allow bottle capping?
GERALD L on Oct 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Portuguese Floor Corker will not work with the adapter for crown caps. Only the Italian Champagne Corker will work with the adapter.

Is this a good option for use with synthetic corks? I know some corkers can create a crease in synthetic corks.
R M on Jul 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Thanks for contacting Northern Brewer. Yes, you can use synthetic corks with this Portuguese floor corker. We suggest using it with the Nomacorcs. Cheers!
Where can I find a replacement for the spring that sits beneath the bottle platform? All I need is the Spring, but if need be, I can buy the entire platform piece if the spring is not sold separately
U S on Jul 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, we do not have any replacement parts for these corkers. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
Can use this to cork Belgian bottle or would you recommend that I go with the Colonna corker instead

With careful adjustment of the plunger depth or an added spacer like a drilled rubber stopper, it is possible to correctly cork belgian bottles too.
