Fermentasaurus Butterfly Valve Assembly Generation 2
The new Keg King Fermentasuarus Dump Valve Upgrade is a massive improvement on the older dump valve assemblies. These easier to use, easier to disassemble valves now feature a 125% wider interior diameter, making for simple yeast removal and increased, non-clogging dry hopping capabilities from the collection bottle at the base of the valve.
The valve housing now utilizes recessed bolts around the exterior circumference, allowing for tightening or removal of the bolts with only a hex key. The interior stainless steel gate is thicker, providing better sealing capabilities under pressure.
Threading on the top and bottom of the valve housing matches the tank attachment and collection bottle and can be oriented either way without liquid contact on the threading. The valve attachment threads are also compatible with collection bottles from the older model Fermentasaurus, so brewers can continue to use the collection bottles they may already have.
The valve assembly is incredibly easy to entirely remove from the tank to facilitate a higher level of cleaning and sanitation than the older model dump valves. By utilizing a 58 mm Cap Spanner, the reverse threaded tank attachment can easily be loosened. Be careful not to over tighten the nut if using the Cap Spanner, hand tight is usually enough.
Bought two of these valves because I have two fermentasauruses. Three brews so far with the new valves. The trub and hops don’t get clogged as easy since the opening is a little bigger. The attachment to the fermenter is significantly improved - you can actually use tools to snug up or breakdown for cleaning. Both ends are same size now so they both use same o ring size. On the down side, one of my butterfly valves doesn’t seat completely when shut. I don’t know if it will be better or worse when I try to remove the bottle to dry hop, but I will know in a week (this my first use of this valve, my other two batches were with other valve). The same valve also leaked through the seam. I was able to disassemble and reassemble the valve. Although I did not see anything obviously wrong, it no longer leaks through the seam but the valve still leaks by. So overall, improved features and one works flawlessly while the other has issues.
