Lakefront Brewery Bridge Burner Pro Series Partial Mash Beer Recipe Kit
The Bridge Burner is an American-style Barley Wine that pours a deep, fiery amber with a rocky off-white head. This is a partial mash beer kit - see our Partial Mash Walkthrough for details.
Recommended: 2-stage fermentation and yeast starter.
The Bridge Burner pours a deep, fiery amber with a rocky off-white head. The assertive aroma is dominated by dry, earthy American hops: citrus, floral and pine tree notes all make a showing. The hops dominate, lending a hefty bitterness to the palate, but are backed up by the caramel malts, which lend a substantial body without any extra sweetness. A warm alcohol burn finishes it off with a nod to its considerable ABV. Since the opening of Northern Brewer Milwaukee in 2009, Lakefront Brewery has been a collaborator on a number of projects. This beer kit is the result of a close working relationship with Lakefront's expert brewers.

Two words: REAL GOOD!
For me, "barley wine" is not the right description. This is a VERY high ABV IPA The hops dominate, but they are balanced and not overwhelming. The body is full on first sip, but surprisingly light and silky on the finish. I don't feel the warming so much, but I definitely feel the buzz within minutes. This is a great "heavy duty" IPA if you want a surprisingly drinkable high ABV IPA. I'll probably brew this again and time it for winter month serving.
