I've been using this stuff for a long time in a variety of brews, but I usually reserve it for wines and or mashes. Works for ale too!

As a newbie I don't have much to base an opinion. But it worked fine for my purposes.
I gave it 4 stars. May be worth 5. I can't tell. This was my first foray into other than naturally occurring yeast fermenting. Used it to convert fresh cider to something with a little kick. It seemed to work well and got the job done. Even though I started off with wild yeast for the first fermentation I added this later and have something more or less drinkable. I know I have a long way to go learning how to tweak alcohol content and sugar, carbonation, nose and flavor nuances. I await the arrival of a basic brewing kit ( the $79 one) to try my hand at beer and ale.

gotta keep one in stock all times
The costs of this yeast is well worth it, i have even restarted a stuck ALE kit once with this yeast. I use it in most of my high gravity fruit wines, like peach and blueberry as i can boost gravity up for a higher alcohol content if wanted, and it doesn't impart any harsh yeasty flavors afterwards. For any first comer that does their own wine and used bread yeast to ferment your must you are probably wondering what yeast to purchase, try this yeast you will never regret it.
