Great base malt for British styles
Classic malt for scottish beers, some malt sweetness and not as ready/toasty as maris otter. Planning on an experiment making the same british golden ale recipe with maris otter, Golden promise, Pearl, halcyon, and Optic malts to compare all the base malts.

great color
The beer is not finished yet, but the color is amazing - deep gold. It's a spiced ale, but the malt is there under the spice. Seemed to have a good efficiency in the mash.

Excellent Base Malt
I have used golden promise as about 50% of my base malt in several beers where a sweet malty back is needed. Typically I'll blend it with Maris Otter in my wee heavies and wiith plain ol' 2-row in pale ales. The mash tun always smells like honey nut Cheerios when I open it up. My only complaint is that I have had trouble with efficiency compared to other malts, despite playing with pH, milling size, and water temperature.

The absolute best pale malt for pale/India ales. The commercial description is pretty spot on - it's clean, sweet, and malty. Maris Otter for browns, porters, and stouts, and this stuff for all your pales. Ambers could go either way.
