Universal Poppet Valve

$4.99

SKU# K376

Flat Rate Shipping only $7.99 only from Northern Brewer

This simple poppet works on all kegs, ball lock and pin lock.

Note that since it is a universal part, it will be easier to use on some keg designs than others. It is not ideal as a complete replacement of a missing part, but it is great for temporary fixes.

Product Details
This simple poppet works on all kegs, ball lock and pin lock. It does not snap into place like many poppets, but its simple spring mechanism makes it highly reliable and easy to remove and clean. Works on A, B, and C post types; an excellent back up part to keep around your homebrewery.

Did the Trick
Worked, but sits high, not flush... No leaks, so happy.

Stop guessing
Why take a chance on getting the wrong poppet. This universal one fits them all and works great.

Had to Cut the Spring
I couldn't get my disconnects on to the keg posts and couldn't figure out why. I finally read these reviews and realized I'm not the only one. Thanks to brandon, I cut one circle off the bottom (the larger end) and the disconnects connect nicely now. I used hand held wire cutters and it took me forever to cut through the spring.

SAME problem
restricted the flow and was generally a pain in the %&^*.Won't be using any more of these.

Same problems
I don't like how I basically have to lay on my disconnects in order to get them to seat with this poppet in place. I put one on the liquid side and now my flow rate out the picnic tap is about 50%. Weighing the risks of contamination/oxidation with bad flow in trying to decide if I should take this thing out. I could modify it as people mentioned, but why wouldn't I just want to buy a direct replacement then? Swing and a miss on this one.

An inexpensive but less than perfect option.
I too had a problem with this poppet restricting the flow of liquid, so I followed brandon's advice of cutting off a lower portion of the spring to get things working. Everything works great now.

Can be too tall
As some reviewers have stated sometimes the universal poppet is too tall or stiff making it nearly impossible to connect your disconnects. I have not tried it yet, but it seems that they would work fine if a bottom ring was cut off.

Too stiff for me, but I fixed it
The springs were way too stiff to the point where you could not get the ball locks on without a hammer.Solution: Cut off the bottom 1.5 'circles' of the spring. Work like a champ now.

Didn't work for me
The spring was too stiff and did not allow proper dispensing of beer or allow desired CO2 levels. I tried it several times thinking maybe I had assembled it incorrectly (which is hard to do, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt) but still had the same effect. Looks like I'm the only one who has had issues with it though judging by the other reviews.

Awesome!
That's all I can say. I spent probably $25 a year ago trying to find replacement poppits. None of them worked with any of my kegs. Just ordered a few of these, for basically half the price of the other poppits, and they work like a charm! Awesome! Thanks NB!

Have these changed since 2012? Seemed a lot of reviewers complained of slightly too long of a spring causing slight issues.
