After 3 years of trying to get my wife away from the commercial beers and into something that I can drink, this was the beer that did it! I'm typically an IPA drinker and I couldn't resist the idea of doing a Red Ale with that hoppy back-end that you get with an IPA. Both she and I loved this and I'll be doing this beer regularly. The only disappointment with this beer is that the kit only made 1 gallon! NB should definitely put this together for a 5 gallon batch. Trust me, you will drink this early and often.

I could drink this often
I conditioned this beer for 12 days and decided to give it a try. This beer has a great flavor, just a little bit bitter and wonderful citrus hop taste. I am going to have to buy this again. NB really should make a 5 gallon kit of this one.

My wife and I both enjoyed the first bottle we opened. I brewed and left in the primary for 2 weeks. I then conditioned for 11 days. This has the characteristics of an IPA and a traditional Irish Red. There is also a hint of citrus flavor. There was excellent, but short-lived, head. I could drink this beer often.

Nice Variation of a Red Ale
I just opened my second bottle from the 1 gallon batch after 13 days conditioning. One week in primary, then racked to secondary for another week.Finished product was a nice surprise for me. It had some of the smooth characteristics of an Irish Red, with a more pronounced hoppiness, and citrus/grapefruit finish. Moderate cloudiness and short lived head, but overall a great beer. Perfect beer to enjoy enjoying while grilling with some friends.

Another day, another brew
As usual the kit had everything to brew. First time with the Radical Red and the kit made it simple enough to finish on a Thursday night. Yeast is active and now comes the hard part, waiting for bottling day.

Surprising wih the amount of hops!
Very drinkable, not as bitter as I figured it would be. Will definitely give this one another batch but all grain next time! Malt comes through, fruit of the hops, refreshing and clean taste!

Great beer.
4 different kinds of hops go into this brew,so I was a little worried it would be too bitter. To the contrary, it was a smooth drinking red that was the hit of our family BBQ. These one gallon kits are really easy to make and they're quicker than other one gallon kits I've tried elsewhere. If you're a fan of reds, this is a must brew.

Got this as a gift
I bought this as a gift for my cousin. I only brewed one gallon of this and gave it all to him. He really liked it, I still have yet to try the bottle I saved for myself.

Is the yeast included in the kit? What kind of yeast is recommended?
S T on Feb 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: yeast is always in the kit but I couldn't tell you what kind it is
Are the small batch kits partial mash?
B E on Jan 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: very small amount of grains - it's been my experience that NB uses a lot of malted barley extract which is much easier to work with, plus smells & tastes great
What kind of specialty/steeping grains does this come with?
S T on Jun 12, 2016

Thank you for your question! This kit's specialty grains are English crystal rye and Belgian cara 45.

What is the shipping weight? Thanks.
N H on Jan 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The kit by itself is 2.75 lbs. Packaging materials would add a little as well.
