easy & tasty
This was our first foray back into home brewing. We've tried all-grain kits before and found we weren't good at keeping the mash in its temp. range, so we figured starting with a malt extract might make an easier win. I gotta tell you-- this was very easy. The closet we keep our ferments in gets pretty cold in the winter (63F), so it took quite a bit longer to do its thing, but we still came out with a very tasty IPA. Two thumbs up!

Awesome red ale.
This beer is awesome! I fermented for two weeks, conditioned for another two weeks, then in the fridge they went. The bitterness has a nice bite to it, medium body, & a dry finish. The only thing I didn't like about it is that I didn't get much of that caramel taste to it. I don't know if it's because I did something wrong when i brewed it or not. I will be Brewing this beer again. Next time I'm thinking of maybe adding some caramel extract to it. I highly recommend this beer.

Great beer! Most give it time to settle and age if you don't want a mouth punch of hops

Kit needs a hop bag
I wouldn't brew this again, having lost so much of the beer to the trub from the hops, I'll be lucky to get 4 or 5 beers from the kit. If you're planning on brewing this. I'd have a way to contain all the hop additions. This was the fist 1 gallon kit I've brewed that clogged my mini-siphon to the point it was unusable. I had to resort to dumping the whole batch through a strainer to get anything in the fermeter.

Another day, another brew
As usual the kit had everything to brew. First time with the Radical Red and the kit made it simple enough to finish on a Thursday night. Yeast is active and now comes the hard part, waiting for bottling day.

Surprising wih the amount of hops!
Very drinkable, not as bitter as I figured it would be. Will definitely give this one another batch but all grain next time! Malt comes through, fruit of the hops, refreshing and clean taste!

West Coast Best Coast
This beer has been another top beer of mine for its hop forward smell and taste. I fermented mine a bit longer (3 weeks) than suggested and glad I did! This was my first attempt at this beer and will be in my shopping cart again soon.

A definite buy again.
This was only my 2nd brew. It turned out great. I will definitely brew this one again.

It was the tastiest beer I've made yet!
The recipe was the right amount of hops and malt. I've been debating on one recipe to master and this might be it. Cheers!

Is the yeast included in the kit? What kind of yeast is recommended?
S T on Feb 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: yeast is always in the kit but I couldn't tell you what kind it is
Are the small batch kits partial mash?
B E on Jan 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: very small amount of grains - it's been my experience that NB uses a lot of malted barley extract which is much easier to work with, plus smells & tastes great
What kind of specialty/steeping grains does this come with?
S T on Jun 12, 2016

Thank you for your question! This kit's specialty grains are English crystal rye and Belgian cara 45.

What is the shipping weight? Thanks.
N H on Jan 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The kit by itself is 2.75 lbs. Packaging materials would add a little as well.
