Golden in color and light to medium in body, this classic West Coast IPA is a celebration of the majestic hop species, Humulus Lupulus, to which it owes its name. In Latin, this phrase translates roughly as “Wolf Among Weeds,” after Romans observed hops’ tendency to overtake other plants in the wild.

At 8%, this silent and seductive Wolf will sneak up on you with tropical, citrusy, dank hop notes and a hint of rye. Golden Road’s goal was to showcase the bright, tropical notes of Simcoe, the pine of Chinook, and the slight dankness of CTZ. The result is a complex layering of abundant hop flavors and aromas with an aggressive but pleasantly dry finish.

My friend loves it! I still think its good (IPA noob)
I wanted to expand my horizons to flavortown so I let my friend choose the next brew I was going to do. He lives in LA so naturally he gravitated toward Golden Road having been there a few times himself. Full disclosure, I am not a hop head but went ahead with his choice. The kit is packaged very well as is every other kit from NB. I went with a full boil of about 7.25 gallons. Followed the recipe as written. I foolishly forgot an OG but being extract can safely assume it's accuracy. I primary'd for 10.5 days, drop hop in primary until 2 week mark. Then tranferred to carboy for second round of dry hops for total of 4 days (2 days ambient, 2 cold crash). Then bottled. I again forgot to check FG until after priming sugar was added (4oz dextrose made FG 1.016). I can assume FG to be around 1.012-1.013 for ABV of near target. It tasted very hop forward, but this one was more forward on the nose than bitter... Opposite of the one from Golden Road. All together I would brew again! I liked mine better than the store bought because the bitterness was slightly less...very good for a clone!

i'm new to brewing but making this beer currently, when I add hops during secondary fermentation, do I just drop them in or should I stir?
A shopper on Aug 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I just swirl the contents i little to disperse, but stirring is OK provide you sterilize the implement you use
What do we do with the flaked rye? no mention in instructions
A shopper on May 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: ( sorry, the instructions needed a quick revision! ) The grain is steeped like in other extract kits, in a muslin bag. They are taken out before the extract is added to the kettle.
