We’re in the face of an epidemic where Citra is the only cure—but it’s been hidden under lock and key! We’ve hoarded every last bit we could get our hands on and thrown it into a limited quantity of Zombie Dirt kits—as many as we could make with dwindling stores of the harvest. Act now and save yourself! Brew as much Zombie Dirt as you can before it’s too late.

One whiff of the infectious aromatics is enough to reanimate the dead. Zombie Dirt is a ballad to the epicly hard-to-find pale ale of the Midwest, an epidemic centered just outside of Chicago. Loaded with pure Citra hops, this pale ale is rarer than zombified-unicorn dust.

Staggering citrus, melon and passion fruit come alive in this pale, single-hop Citra showcase. Toasty malt limps in the background as the apocalyptic bite of grapefruit-honeydew hop character lurches forward. Zombie Dirt is the only defense against homebrew hunger, but a single pint is never enough protection.

  • Brewed with 100% Citra hops.
  • Moderate bittering additions and large late kettle additions push the aroma of this beer to the maximum.
  • Flavors and aromas of tropical fruits and citrus dominate, but are well balanced by the slightly toasty malt character brought forth by the addition of Munich malt.
  • This is a beer intended to be consumed very fresh - the hop character will fade quickly with age.
The perfect small batch size for the 3 Gallon FastFerment or BrewDemon+.

Something differently good
Great beer to brew and it turned out really well. It was something I don’t normally drink but it was worth the try!

Love the taste of this beer which has just the taste of hops without overpowering or being too heavy

Great Citra tasting pale ale
I brewed this with a friend who's favorite beer is the real deal and when our clone was ready, she was very satisfied with the results. Definitely a great recipe to give a try if you're not always able to get your hands on the real thing; so much Citra hop goodness!

Should the hops be filtered out of the wort before going into the fermenter for the Zombie Dirt recipe?
Steven O on Feb 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: From my brief experience, most of the hops (along with any other things that settled) will be at the bottom of the boil pot after cooling the wort down. I'm basing this off of using hop pellets rather than whole hops. Carefully pour the contents of the pot into the fermentation bucket ensuring not to disturb what is settled. There will be a layer at the bottom that you can see when pouring from pot to fermentation bucket. Just stop short of that and you should be fine.
How far in advance of brewing can you buy one of these kits? Do they come with yeast? Is this a good recipe for a first time brewer?
A shopper on Mar 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I had mine for about 10 days before brewing.Make sure you put the included yeast in the fridge as soon as you receive the kit. This is an easy kit for a first timer. Make sure of two things: Have an accurate thermometer to measure wort temperature, and make sure you have a large enough kettle, as the brew will foam dramatically when you add the malt powder. I just bottled this brew today, and had a little pre-carbonation taste. If you like a good IPA, this is a great choice. The directions are detailed and make for a successful craft brew.
