We’re in the face of an epidemic where Citra is the only cure—but it’s been hidden under lock and key! We’ve hoarded every last bit we could get our hands on and thrown it into a limited quantity of Zombie Dirt kits—as many as we could make with dwindling stores of the harvest. Act now and save yourself! Brew as much Zombie Dirt as you can before it’s too late.

One whiff of the infectious aromatics is enough to reanimate the dead. Zombie Dirt is a ballad to the epicly hard-to-find pale ale of the Midwest, an epidemic centered just outside of Chicago. Loaded with pure Citra hops, this pale ale is rarer than zombified-unicorn dust.

Staggering citrus, melon and passion fruit come alive in this pale, single-hop Citra showcase. Toasty malt limps in the background as the apocalyptic bite of grapefruit-honeydew hop character lurches forward. Zombie Dirt is the only defense against homebrew hunger, but a single pint is never enough protection.

  • Brewed with 100% Citra hops.
  • Moderate bittering additions and large late kettle additions push the aroma of this beer to the maximum.
  • Flavors and aromas of tropical fruits and citrus dominate, but are well balanced by the slightly toasty malt character brought forth by the addition of Munich malt.
  • This is a beer intended to be consumed very fresh - the hop character will fade quickly with age.

First Northern Brewer kit
This was my first Northern Brewer kit and only my second brewing attempt. This kit was so easy and the instructions were clear and concise which helped my confidence. First bottle was not carbonated enough so I will wait a couple more days. The flavor was good.

best so far!
This recipe kit is by far the best I've brewed. Unfortunately a one gallon batch didn't last very long. My friends that tried it were quite impressed. I hope to switch to 5 Gallon batches this summer and this will definitely be the first kit i make!

Excellent Christmas Gift and a Great Hoppy Pale Ale
I received this 1G recipe and another for Christmas from one of my daughters. I noticed the intense hop aroma while brewing, and tasted it when bottling. I just had my first bottle of it tonight. Wow, the citrusy aroma and taste is great, it'd make an excellent IPA. I've now got the 5G recipe on my recipe wish list.

The bet Northern Recipie yet
I love the citrus flavor. Great combination of type of hop and grain. Not to mention the malts. I will defiantly be buying this kit again but my friends are pushing me to do a five gallon batch. Looks like I'll be purchasing a larger stainless steel kettle and another fermenter.....

Fantastic flavor, poor carbonation
This was my first Northern Brewer kit and my 2nd batch overall. I brought it to Thanksgiving for the family to try out. The flavor and color came out fantastic! The problem was that it was hardly carbonated. I used a 16oz grolsch bottle and the fizz drops as indicated. 3 weeks after bottling, still little to no carbonation. It may have been an error somewhere due to me being a novice brewer. Hopefully my other 2 NB recipes carbonate!

Fantastic!
I heard a lot about 3 Floyds Zombie Dust and had to try this small batch kit. The only variance I made was creating a yeast starter instead of just pitching dry. My starter was too aggressive and I lost nearly a 3rd to blow off. My bad.

I was surprised at how awesome the citrus flavor was and easy drinking. This is my favorite brew to date! Ordering again now.

Delicious clone of a great beer!
I was curious to try this after hearing so much about Three Floyds Zombie Dust. I was hard pressed to find anyone that did not like the brew. And it has a pretty catchy name.

The aroma and flavor is incredible. This is the kind of brew that would make a GREAT air freshener. There is a very strong citrusy presence that hits you upfront. Almost like drinking a grapefruit beer, with a slight orange rind and piney after taste.

Delicious and sessionable beer. Would pair very well with spicy foods. This is a great go to beer for any occasion, I highly recommend it.

This beer is actually an American Pale Ale even though many reviews here are calling it an IPA. It is not what you would typically expect from an APA, but it is one none the less.

Hello, what is the ABV % for this 1G recipe? Thanks.

What are the types and quantities of grains used?
A shopper on Apr 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: For the One-gallon Zombie Dirt, the grains are:
Briess Carapils: .1 lbs ( 1.6 oz )
English Medium Crystal: .1 lbs ( 1.6 oz )
Just purchased this kit and wondering if the 1 gallon fermenter jug will have enough headspace or I should try and find a 2 gallon fermenter? Thanks
Troy D on Feb 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. This is what I used and it worked great. I think it says somewhere not to fill above the lettering and I highly recommend following that advice. It did push up somewhat into the neck but did not reach airlock.
Why does the Additional Information say "6 weeks" while the brewing instructions say 2 weeks fermentation and 2 weeks conditioning?
D O on Aug 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The kit will take 2 weeks in primay, 2 weeks in secondary/conditioning, and 2 more weeks in bottles for carbonation for a total of 6 weeks.
