Glass carboys are airtight, easily sanitized and do not hold an odor. They can be preferred to plastic buckets and plastic carboys because they do not scratch easily and do not break down over time. If handled carefully, a glass carboy will last decades while giving the same great performance for fermentations. Seal with a #6.5 stopper or Carboy Bung for Glass Carboys - Drilled (#7081). Our packaging experts have worked hard to create the best packaging and handling methods for glass carboys, so that this product arrives safe and sound.

Great Product Review by Larry

Hello brewers, I bought 3 of these carboys and I am sure glad I did. Super easy to clean with the PBW cleaner and works great for fermenting. I recommend to buy tha carrying tool because they are a little heavy and not to easy to carry and sit down. Very well made product and sure glad I bought them to keep beer in the fermenting stage at all times. Have fun brewers. (Posted on 2/13/14)

The Only Way to Go Review by Feral Fish Brewery

I love using my 6 gallon glass carboy for primary fermentation. It's easy to clean, does not hold odor and I can see how my yeast is working much better than just using a bucket. (Posted on 1/3/14)
GREAT CARBOY Review by Lou

I love this 6 gallon carboy. Having an extra carboy around really helps when making multiple batches at once. Especially when lagering for weeks at a time. (Posted on 12/28/13)
Like it Review by Andrew

I like the glass carboy because any CO2 generation is forced through the air lock, unlike plastic ones that bulge. This one is very heavy. There are visible defects in the glass but I have not had a problem. The opening is small. It cleans easy. I like the plastic bubbler carboy too. I have no preference. (Posted on 12/19/13)

People are all about glass over plastic these days. Easy to clean with a brush; hook up a hose to the sink and it will be clean in no time. (Posted on 12/18/13)
it's very heavy... Review by brian

the only reason its not a 5 star is its weight-and obviously its glass and its going to be heavy-but full-its hard to handle-it does seem to be very thick glass so not too worried about breakage, it sure is well made! (Posted on 12/18/13)

More Room Review by Keniel

more head space than a 5 gallon. FYI, it is glass so it wont always be perfect. The neck of my carboy has a slight curve. It is fine, still does its job. I would recommend a 6 gallon carboy for the 5 gallon batches! (Posted on 10/25/13)

A must for any beer or wine fermentation, solid glass passes the test for clean and sanitary beverage development. These carboys are worth the cash. Great with a brew hauler and other accessories to make clean imbibing a reality. (Posted on 10/9/13)
Solid, and you can watch your beer ferment Review by Aaron

This carboy is very solid, and full, it's heavy and awkward to carry. That said, it's great just being able to glance at your fermentor to see how your beer is coming along. (Posted on 10/2/13)

The first one arrived with a crack in it, but the helpful guys at Northern Brewer quickly sent me out a new one and it is flawless. My wine is bubbling away in it now. These carboys are good and sturdy. Must have for any home wine maker. (Posted on 9/30/13)

This I just a great carboy, it's heavy, it's big enough to give you wort room to foam up, and it's a great addition to any home brewers arsenal (Posted on 9/26/13)

I have only used it for a secondary so far, but it works very well. This is the only carboy I own so have nothing to compare it to, but the only thing I might change is the neck. It seems small. (Posted on 9/20/13)
Great carboy Review by Tom

Of course, like everyone has already said, it is a little heavy to deal with. Also, when cleaning it out it is a little akward to work with because of the size, but it makes up for it with durability. Very strong, have accidentally banged it against my granite countertops more than once and no cracks. Also, the taste of using the glass carboy beats a plastic one. I also like having a 6 gallons, gives you a little more room with your beer. (Posted on 9/13/13)

Decent carboy Review by Russ

I'm a relatively new brewer, but I own 3 glass carboys: smooth sided 5 and 6.5 gallon and this one. My two main complaints with this carboy: the raised ridges on the side correspond to dents inside that are difficult to clean and the ridges don't correspond to any useful measure. I'd hoped the horizontal marks would match up with gallon markings, but they seem decorative.

If I had it to do over again, I'd have 2 smooth sided 6.5 gallon carboys. No clogged blow off tubes and easier to clean. I bought the 5 gallon as a secondary, but I don't really need it for the ales I've been making. (Posted on 8/18/13)

Great and solid carboys Review by Reuben

These carboys are great for cleaning and being able to see your brew ferment away. I will admit they are on the heavy side but what should one expect from glass. All in all I own 2 and will continue to stock up over time. I agree with the other review that when you use starsan the stoppers must be fairly dry to stay in the carboy but after they are they stay in very well. (Posted on 9/26/12)
Heavy and Heavy-duty Review by Sasha

Empty, these are pretty heavy. Full, I have to walk them. I did drop one once while I was washing it and it didn't break (hallelujah!) so I'm not sure where people are getting "fragile". I think you'd have to drop it from a story high onto cement to break it since the glass is so thick. (Posted on 5/26/12)

One Complaint Review by Eric
Rating
This is your standard carboy, very robust, but don't drop it (obviously). One complaint that I would have would be that if you use star san, the neck gets slippery, and does not hold onto a new Carboy Bung for Glass Carboys - Drilled (SKU: 7081). Once you use the bung, it holds from then on. (Posted on 1/18/12)
