Exactly what I needed!
This 30 inch cane is exactly what I needed to rack from my 54 liter demijohns! Reaches all the way to bottom of the demijohn unlike the shorter cheap plastic canes. Being made of stainless should last the rest of my wine making days. One caution however is if you remove the little doodad at the bottom of the cane make sure when you put it back on that the friction fit prongs inside the doodad go on the outside of the cane. I thought they went on the inside of the cane and tried to force the them into the cane which of course did not work. Then I had a hard time getting it back on because I had bent the prongs inward by trying to force them inside the cane. Anyways perfect for siphoning from the big demijohns.

Great
I used this racking cane and the two hole carboy cap to transfer using CO2. Excellent.

Works great, all metal as pictured
Maybe the early versions had plastic tips. Mine was all metal and works great. Tip holds on with springy metal adaptors that fit snuggly, but comes off easily when it's time to clean. I'm not sure how sustainable this mechanism is, but can't think of a better way to do it.Not much more to say - simple product, works as intended.

All steel cane and tip
Steel cane and steel tip as pictured. It reaches the bottom of a 50L european keg, which is the main reason I bought it. My auto siphon was too short. Also I thought the SS would be a nice upgrade to my equipment. I had trouble with my technique the first time I used it, because I have used an auto siphon since I began brewing. But this video helped me get the siphon started very easily, hopefully it helps somebody else out there.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6wnVFsGdv0&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Absolutely a vital piece of equipment for any serous brewer. If you have a plastic one, keep using it, but when it breaks buy one of these! I can't believe I waited so long!

Nice piece
This is a very nice racking cane I could have made myself with some handy stainless steel tubing but I'm glad I didn't. The cap that comes with it is a nice bonus.

Sturdy, adequate
After breaking several plastic canes through the years, steel was calling me. It's a tube and does well what a tube does. Wall thickness is sufficient for a rigid feel and the surface is smooth. I did not receive the stainless pick-up end in the photo, came with the orange plastic kind as on the plastic racking canes which is why this product lost a star.

Works for aeration
Bought this to attach an aeration stone to the end. Works well to disburse O2 throughout the wort.

Sturdy, not as pictured
It's sturdy stainless cain. But the one they ship you is NOT the one in the picture. The one they ship has a plastic tip. Which is kind of a bummer because i like to do a lot of sour beers

Is this long enough for a six-gallon carboy? If not, what should I be looking for?
S U on Nov 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the part where the curve at the top of the cane starts is 6" above the top of a standard 6 gal carboy
