Paddle
Solid and long enough to stir my 15 gallon brew pot.

Nice Paddle!
This is a great paddle. Perfect for a 10-15 gallon batch. The handle is long enough and the blade does a great job. The weight is just right–you don’t feel like your holding any weight at all. Its plain wood and each dowel is pinned. I left mine outside for a couple of days in the rain and there is no damage from swelling of the joints.

Makes brew day easy
Great paddle. Easy to grip and very strong. I broke a few plastic paddles and wish I would have bought this one first. A must have for all grain brewers.

Size Follow-up
I found it easier to cut off 8 inches, remount the handle and add gallon and half gallon marks with a wood-burner......PERFECT PADDLE! I have used it on 2 5.5 gallon batches and it works easily through the mash!

A major improvement, a minor investment
I had been stirring my mash with an 18" plastic spoon and getting terrible efficiency from my grain. Finally talked my cheap self into buying this mash paddle and lo and behold, it's easier, less messy, and more efficient than that doggone plastic spoon. Made my life easier, plus it looks really cool. Recommended.

I have been brewing for 6 years and this has been the BEST paddle I've used yet.

Outstanding
I was pleasantly Surprised when I opened the box for this paddle. It is heavy duty. Way more rugged than what I was expecting. Works great too.Russ Gilbertwww.gilbertbrothersbrewing.com

Love it
Its the perfect mash rake. Its long enough to use in my converted kegs and/or the 10 gallon rubbermaid cooler. Its got a T-handle which makes it nice to use and easy to hang. The design of the head works great for breaking up clumps in the mash and making sure you dont have any dry spots. I could not think of a better design for its purpose.

Perfect
Just used this for the first time. Easily handled the mash, making brewday that much easier. Great value.

Too Big!
My mistake in ordering this paddle! Its HUGE! I can see how this would make large grain batches easier to mash and it is well made.I'll just hang it on the wall,as a reminder of my blunder!Still need to order a new mash paddle, stainless steel maybe this time!Maybe a smaller version of this would be cool!

Why is this better than a stainless steel spoon (which I already own)? I'm interested in it for 3 gal BIAB.
RoyW on Sep 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: For small batch BIAB, your spoon will be fine. This wooden one is a more traditional mash paddle, suitable for large mash tuns with large grain bills. Wooden ones are nice, as they won't scratch the inside of a mash tun. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
