Hops Straining Bag
I have been using hops straining bags for over a year now and will never go back to pitching hops into the wort again. I reuse them and am very satisfied with them.

Straining bags
I've brewed many a flagon, but this is the first time I used the straining bags. Fantastic idea, I feel like a newbie for not doing it sooner

No more hop gunk
Brewed the other night with it. Put the hop additions in the bag during the boil and no sludge at the bottom of the pot after the boil.

Great for secondary racking & kegging to clarify your brew
I use these bags for transfer from primary to secondary & again from secondary to keg. I rubber band them (sanitized of course) to a transfer hose and the bags filter/clarify the beer, but still allow yeast through for natural carbonation in the keg. They are a must in my brewing process... over 300 batches brewed and climbing.

great, saves having to worry
great, saves having to worry about debris in your wort. Much cleaner wort using the hop staring bag. Will probably try the brewing in a bag next.

Perfect sized strainer bag.
I used this for dry hoping. Worked as I hoped. Kept all the hops contained. The bag cleaned up nicely after use.

A must for dry hopping
Love it. It takes the cloud out of dry hopping for your IPAs. Clean it. Sterilize it. Use it again.

Would this bag work well for containing fruits like strawberries that have small seeds in mead primary fermentation?
A shopper on Apr 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would believe so, the micron size on bag is very small. These bags were primarily designed for containing hop pellets and those particles are very small. I've used these bags to contain anything from hop pellets to coffee grounds.
What is the best way to wash these? I rinsed them out after use, but seems like they could get cleaner. Also, if I have more than one that I used for different hops, should I try and use the same one for that hop each time (bittering, aroma...) or does it not really matter if I get it clean?
H E on Jan 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Sean,

Thank you for choosing Northern Brewer! I usually just rinse mine off inside and out. Another great way of washing them is to put them in a dish washer on the top rack on high heat with no soap of any kind in there. Realistically, the bag will never be completely clean again, it will always have a little bit of hop smell and green color to it. No need to use a different one of bittering or aroma, there is not enough of the chemical components that will stay with the bag to make any difference. I hope that this helps!
Does this bag work well with steeping grains?
Tollie M on Feb 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They work very well. Just used them on a kit with specialty grains that come ground and ready to steep. The bags kept the particles out of my wort and still transferred color and flavour. Especially useful for hop pellets when they break down into mush.
I used this bag to dry hop, but it became a large air bubble that floated at the top. I had even added a couple of magnetic stir bars as weights. Any suggestions of how to get the bag to sink better, other than adding more weight?
A shopper on May 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not really, no! When a beer is dry-hopped, it often releases a lot of CO2 from the beer, as the hops create many cavitation points for the CO2 molecules to cling to and rise up and out. This can cause a bag to float up, if not weighted enough. Sterile glass marbles work well, or stainless steel parts are often used to weigh down a dry-hop bag. Another option to explore may be the Depth Charge, which would eliminate the need to use a bag like this in the fermenter, and it also has a lot of space for hop additions! ( A "Depth Charge" is designed to use in our Big Mouth carboys. )
