Use cling wrap to seal... Review by RH

This works great with a thermowell, fermentation heater wrap and temperature regulator, but it doesn't provide a good seal. If you want to watch your airlock bubble, you'll need to wrap the cap and carboy neck with cling wrap, then clamp with rubber bands. (Posted on 12/18/12)

These things are excellent when coupled with a thermo-well. I use have my thermowell inserted into the center hole which results in a tight enough fit to be airtight. I then connect tubing to the offset holes for my blow off and drop the other end in a container of vodka. Works much better than a bung and airlock and allows me to monitor the temperature of the center of the wort instead of just the outside. (Posted on 10/15/12)

I love my carboy caps. I have one for every carboy and they are so handy. Another use I find for them is when sanitizing and rinsing, I can fill the carboy with a gallon of solution, cap it and shake easily with a perfect seal that's more reliable and easier than an undrilled bung. I also highly recommend the carboy handles for increased safety when man-handling carboys.

on a side note, I'm a little surprised by the suggested siphon technique of blowing into the cap. It's awesome, and I'd never thought of it. Generally speaking isn't breathing or blowing into your wort/beer ill-advised? I hope they gargled with Wodka or something ;) The mouth is the second most fertile place for nasties going, second only to your beer! (Posted on 9/8/12)

I love these things. I always felt like bungs weren't snug enough so I use these guys in their place. You can fit an airlock in one of the holes and leave the white plug on the other... at least that's how I use them. :) (Posted on 8/26/12)
